Description
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Compliance/Certified Payroll Coordinator to join our team. As a Compliance/Certified Payroll Coordinator, you will be responsible for ensuring accurate and timely processing of certified payroll reports in compliance with prevailing wage laws, government contracts, and company policies. This position plays a critical role in maintaining legal compliance, audit readiness, and supporting labor reporting requirements for public works projects.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare and submit weekly certified payroll reports (CPRs) for all applicable projects, ensuring full compliance with federal, state, and local wage regulations.
- Verify employee wages, fringe benefits, job classifications, and hours worked against project specifications.
- Track and maintain compliance documentation such as apprenticeship certifications, wage determinations, and labor classifications.
- Collaborate with project managers and HR to gather necessary data and resolve discrepancies.
- Respond to audits and inquiries from government agencies, contractors, and internal stakeholders regarding certified payroll.
- Maintain detailed records of payroll submissions, project information, and labor compliance documents and ensure compliance to SOX Aduit Requirements.
- Assist with verifying subcontractor compliance, including collection of required documentation.
- Stay updated on prevailing wage laws, labor compliance regulations, and reporting requirements.
- Support general payroll processing activities as needed.
- Assist other departments as needed.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
- 2 years of payroll experience, preferably in certified payroll or public works projects.
- Knowledge of federal, state, and local prevailing wage laws (e.g., Davis-Bacon Act, California DIR requirements).
- Proficient in payroll software (such as ADP, Paychex, or Viewpoint) and Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel).
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Experience working with LCP Tracker, eMars, or other labor compliance software is a plus.
- Must be able to lift light to moderate weight. Must be able to use a computer and sit for extended periods of time
Pay Rate: $24.00 an hour
Preferred Certifications:
- Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) designation or similar certification is highly desirable
