The Senior Financial Analyst assists in all decision support functions as well as the annual operating and capital budget processes utilizing a high level of problem solving skills and customer service responsiveness. The Senior Financial Analyst assists in maintaining and enhancing the functionality of budgeting, cost accounting and decision support systems, including system implementation and development of cost accounting standards. The Senior Financial Analyst performs work at an advanced level – reviewing and analyzing financial information for complex, difficult and varied management needs. He/She compiles and analyzes data obtained from numerous information systems and employs the judgment necessary to determine the accuracy and applicability of the conclusions. The position exercises independence and judgment in the management of their time and workload. Essential Duties: Assists in development of analyses and reports to support hospital and corporate initiatives, including financial evaluation of strategic initiatives. Produces monthly management reports as assigned. Responsible for loading data extracts into cost accounting, decision support and budget software, including reconciliation to source system, error correction and general review of data for accuracy. Assists in development of cost accounting standards; responsible for ongoing analysis and maintenance of standards, as well as educating users regarding cost accounting. Work with department managers and administration in the development of the annual operating budget. Work with numerous financial systems, including but not limited to Kaufman Hall, Lawson, Cerner, Showcase, Kronos, and Enterprise reporting. Assists in development of analyses and reports to support hospital and corporate initiatives, including financial evaluation of strategic initiatives. Understand and explain variances and trends in expected net revenues and costs. Assist in the capital budget approval process (RAC). Assist in obtaining maximum functionality from existing budget, cost accounting and decision support systems including but not limited to custom report writing. Displays proficiency at an advanced level in Excel, PowerPoint and database query engines as needed. Participates on and provides assistance to various committees of the Medical Center and Finance. Responsible for maintaining security of information: e.g. patient records, salary, staff and legal information in a confidential nature. Performs other duties as assigned. Required Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree 4 year degree in Accounting or Finance 2 – 3 years Accounting, financial analysis and decision support experience in a hospital or similar environment Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Powerpoint. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, planning and evaluation skills. Able to function independently and as a member of a team. Demonstrates excellent verbal and written communication skills. Organization/time management skills. Preferred Qualifications: Master’s degree In related field. Advanced proficiency in SQL database software such as Access preferred Required Licenses/Certifications: Fire Life Safety Training (LA City) If no card upon hire, one must be obtained within 30 days of hire and maintained by renewal before expiration date. (Required within LA City only) The annual base salary range for this position is $81,120.00 – $133,010.00.
