Job Summary The Apophis Mission Task Lead will report to the Apophis Chief Executive and will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the technical and business teams at Caltech. In this role, the Apophis Mission Task Lead will primarily handle planning and tracking the budget, scheduling, and staffing for the Apophis work at Caltech and with Caltech contractors and will coordinate closely with all Apophis team organizations. Essential Job Duties Collaborate with the Apophis Chief Executive to thoroughly define team responsibilities across all participating organizations, including management of the Apophis technical, cost, and risk baseline and interfaces. Operate within the established Apophis mission organization to manage technical and contractual interfaces and documents. Organize and present at meetings and project reviews. Work closely with the JPL Apophis Team and act as the Caltech technical authority in discussions between the Caltech and JPL Apophis teams. Maintain close cooperation with the Apophis Chief Executive and ensure the Chief Executive is fully informed about technical and contractual status at all times. Continuously liaise with the entire Apophis Project Mission Team to evaluate Apophis technical alignment with science requirements, identify challenges, and implement mitigations. Regularly adapt responsibilities, including those mentioned above, to align with the Mission’s needs or guidance from the Chief Executive Officer. Basic Qualifications Master’s degree or higher in engineering or business administration. Experience with space missions or large projects is essential. Prior leadership positions in space missions or large projects are necessary. Preferred Qualifications Ten years or more of recent experience in the space sector is preferred. Familiarity with Caltech and JPL administration strongly preferred.
