Department Summary Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) serves as the campus community mental health center forstudents. The Department’s mission is to support students’ emotional and intellectual development, emotionalresiliency and personal well-being toward optimizing their ability to thrive in UCLA’s diverse learningenvironment. CAPS psychologists, clinical social workers and psychiatrists provide clinical, outreach, preventionand mental health promotion services. Clinical services are confidential and available to regularly enrolledstudents. Position Summary Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) serves as the campus community mental health center for students. The mission of CAPS is to support student development, empowerment and success through connection with dedicated diverse staff who provide mental health services that encourage Health, Healing and Hope. CAPS strives to provide: 1. Short-term, high-quality, culturally affirming mental health treatment including assessment, consultation, and case management; group and individual therapy; and psychiatry services, 2. Culturally responsive community mental health training and wellness education, 3. Training and professional development for mental health providers that emphasizes inclusive support and care of diverse clients, 4. Connection to diverse community resources and referrals. Under general supervision of the Executive Director or designee, the Asst. Clinical Director supports the mission of CAPS and the University in providing the highest quality mental health services for the student at UCLA. The incumbent performs a wide range of complex tasks including counseling and psychotherapy with students; consultation and relevant training to CAPS staff; outreach, prevention and mental health education; and emergency services. The incumbent participates in meetings and committees; serves as an assigned Case Conference Clinical Administrator/Facilitator; and carries out necessary charting, data reporting, and incident reporting requirements. In addition, the incumbent performs supervision of mental health services; and program development and quality improvement within CAPS. The incumbent accepts overall direction from the Executive Director or designee. The incumbent acts in a manner consistent with the APA code of ethics in compliance with HIPAA and FERPA requirements, and in accordance with CAPS Policies and laws governing mental health practices in the State of California, as well as those rules governing the NCAA and university policy related to student ath Salary & Compensation *UCLA provides a full pay range. Actual salary offers consider factors, including budget, prior experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business considerations. Qualifications 5+ Years professional experience in a mental health setting. (Required) Demonstrated ability to conduct brief psychotherapy and crisis intervention. (Required) Demonstrated skills in consultation work with professional and non-professional colleagues. (Required) Demonstrated skills in written and oral communication. (Required) Demonstrated ability to evaluate and intervene with severely disturbed students. (Required) Demonstrated ability to supervise licensed counselors, postdoctoral fellows, interns, and otherclinical trainees. (Required) Knowledge of applicable laws and ethics pertaining to mental health. (Required) Demonstrated skills in providing outreach and prevention services. (Required) Ability to work with a diverse population. (Required) Knowledge of developmental issues in University populations. (Required) Demonstrated ability to work as a team member in an interdisciplinary environment. (Required) Education, Licenses, Certifications & Personal Affiliations Masters or Doctorate in counseling, social work, or clinical psychology from an APA approved program and completion of an APA accredited internship. (Required) Licensed for the practice of psychology in California.
