This unit is dedicated to fostering academic success for all students and providing a smooth transition for first-year Bruins.
Position Summary
The Assistant Director of Academics & First-Year Experience (FYE) at UCLA Residential Life oversees the implementation and assessment of programs, partnerships, and services that support the academic and intellectual development of 24,000 residential students. This position includes a live-in component and requires participation in a 24/7 duty rotation, serving as a critical responder for the campus. The role requires adaptability, visionary leadership, and a collaborative spirit to work with staff, faculty, and campus partners in fostering a dynamic and supportive residential environment. Reporting to the Associate Director of Academics & FYE, the Assistant Director’s role includes direct supervision of two (2) Program Coordinators and indirect supervision of student staff (Project Management Interns, Community Development Interns, and Study Hall Proctors.) The Assistant Director ensures the delivery of impactful programming that facilitates first-year students’ transition and academic success, while fostering collaboration with campus partners.
