Position Summary

The UCLA Career Center is seeking an experienced, dynamic, and motivated individual to join our team as an Assistant Director for Industry Relations & Experiential Learning. Under the general direction of the Associate Director, the Assistant Director will play a crucial role in cultivating and maintaining relationships with employers, developing strategic partnerships, and facilitating opportunities for UCLA students to connect with employers for internships, full-time employment, and career development initiatives. The position leads the strategic development and execution of high-impact recruitment programs, including career fairs, on-campus recruiting, and employer engagement events, to align with UCLA’s organizational goals. It oversees and mentors the Industry Relations Team, ensuring daily operations are effective and collaborative. The role builds and maintains partnerships with academic departments, student organizations, and employers across various industries, fostering opportunities tailored to student needs. It leverages data, industry trends, and labor market insights to guide recruitment strategies and inform stakeholders. The ideal candidate will be a proactive, collaborative, highly organized leader with a passion for career development, employer engagement, and connecting students to meaningful career opportunities. This position offers a unique opportunity to support UCLA students as they transition from college to career while contributing to the broader mission of the UCLA Career Center.

Salary & Compensation

*UCLA provides a full pay range. Actual salary offers consider factors, including budget, prior experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business considerations. Salary offers at the top of the range are not common. Qualifications

  • 3+ Years In career services and/or higher education, or equivalentexperience in the corporate or non-profit sector. (Preferred)
  • Advanced knowledge of career development theories, counseling processes, career coaching techniques, decision making, and job search techniques. (Required)
  • Advanced Knowledge of UC Programs, career services, employer, alumni, and faculty needs and expectations, and recruiting + staffing methods. (Preferred)
  • Strong organizational and project management skills with high attention to detail. (Required)
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills. (Required)
  • Ability to develop positive relationships demonstrate excellent customer service, teamwork skills, and work collaboratively with employers, coworkers, and campus partners. (Required)
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously, ensuring that deadlines are met and initiatives are successfully executed, delegating and coworking as necessary. (Required)
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and industry trends, remaining flexible in a fast-paced and evolving work environment (Required)
  • Ability think strategically to troubleshoot and resolve challenges related to employer engagement, student preparation, or event execution. (Preferred)
  • Familiarity with career services tools and platforms like Handshake, LinkedIn, and other job-search systems. (Preferred)
  • Skill in employee selection, training, supervision, coaching, motivation, discipline, evaluation, conflict resolution, team building, interpersonal communications, consensus building, and position development. (Required)
  • Education, Licenses, Certifications & Personal Affiliations

  • Advanced Degree in related area and/or equivalentexperience/training (Required)
