This position requires employees to be on-site at UCLA at least 2 days per week. Position Summary The Graduate Studies Assistant Director (AD) conducts direct outreach to qualified applicants and supports incoming and current students for the UCLA School of Law master’s degree programs. The AD will be assigned to work for the Master of Legal Studies program (MLS), the Executive Education program, or for both programs. Responsibilities include conducting and coordinating recruiting and providing support to current, former, incoming, and prospective students on a wide variety of academic, professional, and non-academic matters. The AD will lead the social media presence of both programs and create digital assets used in marketing. The AD will represent the program(s) at receptions and recruiting events nationally and internationally; give presentations about the programs, the Law School, and the application process; lead information sessions for admitted and prospective students; and complete other tasks necessary to support the programs as directed by the directors of the two programs. Salary & Compensation *UCLA provides a full pay range. Actual salary offers consider factors, including budget, prior experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business considerations. Salary offers at the top of the range are not common. Qualifications Experience recruiting students for educational programs. (Preferred) Experience providing student services in a higher education setting. (Preferred) Experience with student advising, preferably in a higher educational setting. (Required) Skill in listening perceptively, conveying understanding, establishing rapport, gaining trust, and motivating others. (Required) Ability to work with and communicate effectively and diplomatically with applicants, students, alumni, faculty, administrators, and staff with a variety of backgrounds. (Required) Skill in setting priorities which accurately reflect the relative importance of goals and job responsibilities and adjusting the priorities as needed. (Required) Ability to work under pressures of peak season of activity, frequent interruptions and distractions, and emotional tensions of law students and applicants. (Required) Effective oral and written communication skills. (Required) Ability to work well both independently and collaboratively within a fast-paced team environment. (Required) An entrepreneurial spirit and enjoyment of strategizing about program growth while maintaining excellence. (Required) An ability to respond nimbly to a rapidly evolving educational landscape. (Required) A deep interest in and appreciation of students coming from a broad range of international and professional backgrounds. (Required) Education, Licenses, Certifications & Personal Affiliations Bachelor’s Degree in a related area and/or equivalent combination of education and experience/training (Required) Juris Doctor (JD) Degree or Bachelor?s of Law (LLB) Degree (Preferred) Special Conditions for Employment Background Check: Continued employment is contingent upon the completion of a satisfactory background investigation.
