Assistant Project Scientist, Khakh Lab University of California Los Angeles Requisition Number: JPF10674 The Khakh lab in the Department of Physiology at UCLA is recruiting for an Assistant Project Scientist position. The successful candidate will be expected to conduct research focused on how astrocytes change during aging. The work will involve determining striatal astrocyte subproteomes and transcriptomes in 18-month-old versus 2-month-old mice, and evaluating the functional and cellular properties of astrocytes across these age groups. Experience with proteomics and transcriptomics datasets is expected. The candidate should have knowledge of astrocyte biology, molecular and cellular neuroscience, and experience with experimental techniques such as tissue processing, cell sorting, RNA-seq or mass spectrometry sample preparation, and data analysis using modern bioinformatics pipelines. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong analytical skills, independence, and the ability to collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team studying glial cell biology in health and disease.
