Associate Director for Academic Assessment and Curricular Transformation University of California Los Angeles Requisition Number: JPF10858 The UCLA Teaching and Learning Center (TLC) was established in August 2023 to support UCLA’s educational mission to engage a university-wide community of scholars composed of educators and the diverse learners they serve in a collaborative process to discover and advance knowledge and practice across the disciplines both in and beyond the classroom. The TLC is a key driver of innovation and excellence in teaching across UCLA’s broad academic landscape, a campus resource for programming in support of inclusive and evidence-based teaching practices, and a champion of pedagogical research and the scholarship of teaching and learning. The TLC is recruiting an Associate Director for the Academic Assessment and Curricular Transformation (Academic Administrator V) (hereafter Associate Director’), who reports to the Director of Assessment of Student and Instructor Experience (ASIE). The Associate Director leads and supports institution-level efforts to use qualitative and mixed-methods assessment to inform curriculum redesign, program review, and teaching innovation. This role partners with instructors, departments, and campus stakeholders to advance data-informed, equity-minded practices that enhance student success and belonging. The Associate Director also plays a central role in integrating multiple measures of teaching effectiveness and supporting reflective, research-based instructional practices aligned with UCLA’s strategic priorities. Core responsibilities include leading qualitative and mixed-method research design; consulting with instructors and departments on curriculum and assessment; facilitating programming and communities of practice; supporting IRB processes for education research; and developing reports, educational resources, and dissemination materials to promote continuous improvement. In addition, the Associate Directors leads the administration, evaluation, and continued development of teaching evaluation initiatives, including the Holistic Evaluation of Teaching (HET) program, in partnership with campus leadership, academic personnel staff, and faculty. The Associate Directors responsibilities also include supporting TLC unit-level self-assessment and strategic planning; developing tools such as rubrics, surveys, interview and focus group protocols, and data management plans; overseeing assessment for curricular initiatives and internal grant-funded projects, including the development of logic models and statements of work. The Associate Director may supervise student researchers or postdoctoral scholars as assigned.
