Description
Reporting to the Director of Technical Operations, this role requires a solid understanding of permanent Audio-Visual integrated systems, troubleshooting techniques, and a passion for new technologies. This Technician will be collaborating within the Engineering and Operations departments to ensure installations align with project specifications, and function within requirements for internal production staff and external clients. This role sits in an intersection between the IT, AV, Film, and Broadcast industry. While this is not a client-facing role, candidates with good communication skills are needed to ensure successful deployments and continued operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Working with a wide variety audio-visual, broadcast/film equipment, and network systems.
- Equipment Mounting (Racks, Wall, Raceway)
- Structured Cable Installation, including strong knowledge of category cable and fiber optic specifications
- Proficiency in soldering and crimping connectors (RJ45, BNC, XLR)
- Troubleshooting Analog and Digital signals
- Comfortable with Serial RS-232 interfaces
- Strong Understanding of the OSI model
- Good understanding of Video Standards and EDID
- Maintaining regular written and verbal job status with Project Managers
- Collaborate with third-party representatives to address AV-specific needs.
- Interpret design drawings and accurately mark up any drawing changes
- Document the installation progress with site photographs
Physical, Mental and Environmental Requirements
- Performing tasks that involve standing, walking, sitting, and manual dexterity.
- Occasionally handling equipment up to 50lbs
- Adapting to varying noise levels in the work environment, ranging from moderate to periodically high
- Being prepared for occasional outdoor tasks, with exposure to seasonal temperature variations, despite most work occurring indoors.
- Working at heights (ladder or aerial work platform)
Requirements
- 10 years of experience in the Audio-Visual Industry
- Valid Working at Heights required
- 2-3 years of Field experience installing Video Walls or Commercial Signage
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Responsible, self-motivated, well-organized, and personable.
- A strong eye for detail
- Proficiency in multitasking.
- Ability to handle high-pressure situations with composure.
- Proficient in reading and interpreting AV drawings.
Additional Requirements
- Open to Domestic and International travel on a project-by-project basis
- Valid Driving License and Access to vehicle for site visits in the GTA
- Valid passport for occasional travel to other sites

Benefits
The salary range for this position is USD 90,000 to 110,000. Individual salaries within this range will be dependent upon skills, experience, and qualifications. Benefits may vary by location due to regional regulations and company policies.
