AY26 – Counselor, University Transfer Center LTS LIMITED LOS ANGELES COMMUNITY COLLEGE DISTRICT P ROFESSIONAL O PPORTUNITIES LOS ANGELES TRADE TECHNICAL COLLEGE Position Announcement AY 26 Counselor, Transfer Center Long Term Sub – D Basis LIMITED Application Deadline: December 6, 2025 Issue Date: November 14, 2025 Los Angeles Trade Technical College (LATTC) is in search of a highly innovative, motivated and dynamic individual to oversee our University Transfer Center. Under the supervision of the Vice President of Student Services or designee, the Career and Transfer Counselor/Director will develop and manage programs and services that support student career exploration, major and career planning, and transfer to four-year institutions, ensuring equity and success for all students and oversee the day-to-day activities of the Transfer Center. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: A Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in counseling, rehabilitation counseling, clinical psychology, counseling psychology, educational counseling, guidance counseling, social work, career development, marriage and family therapy, or marriage, family and child counseling or the equivalent. A sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability and ethnic backgrounds of the community college students, faculty and staff. GENERAL REQUIREMENTS : A medical certificate indicating fitness to engage in administrative work is required for new employees at the applicant’s expense prior to employment. ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENT: COVID 19 VACCINATION Pursuant to LACCD Board of Trustee’s Policy 2900, all students and employees must be fully vaccinated or have an approved exemption. LACCD employees are required to provide their vaccination status in compliance with the LACCD Board of Trustees’ policy. Newly hired employees will be required to provide their vaccination status prior to starting a position or, at the latest, by their position start date CORE DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: In collaboration with the Dean of Pathways and Student Affairs the Counselor/Director will: Oversee the day-to-day operations of Transfer Services department. Provide guidance and counseling to students on career exploration, major selection, and transfer planning. Serve as the liaison between LATTC and baccalaureate level universities. Develop and maintain internal and external programs, including job fairs, transfer programs, and workshops. Develop, collect, and maintain student and program data to track outcomes and improve services. Perform other duties associated with Counseling and academic support, including knowledge of the matriculation process, graduation requirements, articulation agreements, Student learning outcomes. Utilizing and remaining abreast of advanced counseling methods and student development theories that include integrating technology to support student learning and identification of career objectives. Experience and sensitivity in counseling and teaching students who may be first generation, non-native English speakers, academically under-prepared, non-traditional, or returning students. Work closely with faculty, staff, and external partners to enhance career and transfer services. Ensure that services are accessible and equitable for all students, regardless of background or circumstances. Provide training and professional development opportunities for staff to enhance their skills and knowledge. Contribute to the development and implementation of the college’s strategic plan for transfer services. Establish and maintain relationships with employers and transfer institutions to expand opportunities for students. Collaborates with the articulation officer in the development of articulation agreements and processes related to Associate Degrees for Transfer (ADT) transfer course/program equivalencies, state initiatives related to transfer; advises ad provides guidance on issues and programs pertaining to transfer services. Represent the needs of students in career and transfer services to campus leadership and stakeholders. Develops and establishes innovated transfer programs with transfer institutions; establishes partnerships with universities. Assists with the marketing strategies for department services, activities, projects, programs, and events, including flyers, brochures, and other publications, social media, and internet marketing. Collaborates with the articulation officer, department chair, and admissions office in certifying CSU GE-Breadth and IGETC. Attend follow-up training, counselor summits and team trainings. Establish and chair the Transfer Center Advisory Committee. DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS/PREFERRED CORE COMPETENCIES: Experience and training in university admissions and transfer counseling, experience in baccalaureate-level admissions and outreach, experience with career exploration. Experience in career counseling, college counseling, and/or transfer services. Knowledge of career development theories, job search strategies, and transfer requirements. Strong organizational and problem-solving skills. Experience in program development, implementation, and evaluation. Familiarity with relevant technology and software. Master’s degree in a related field is often required. Experience working effectively with college faculty, classified professionals, and administrators. Sensitivity to changing student populations, ethnic and cultural diversity within those populations, and the academic programs necessary to serve those students. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing and demonstrated ability to produce significant reports/documents. Demonstrated sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socio-economic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, faculty, and staff. WORK SCHEDULE 35 Hours Monday-Thursday, 8 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. in person; and Friday 8:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m. remote SALARY AND BENEFITS: The annual salary range is $84,120 to $150,160 with a doctorate degree and may be eligible for a doctoral degree differential of $4,870 per academic year. The selected candidate will be placed on the salary schedule for that class at a pay period rate which, including applicable differentials and increments, is closest to five percent above the salary rate to which the employee was entitled in his/her former class or position, in accordance with LACCD Board Rule 10509. Final salary placement occurs after the selected candidate has completed the hiring clearance process. An excellent benefits package which includes medical, vision, dental and life insurance is available for the employee and eligible dependents. Benefits include 15.5 paid holidays annually, 15-24 days paid vacation annually depending on length of District service, medical/hospital, dental and vision care plans and a $50,000 group life insurance policy.
