Your Role on the Team Position Summary: The incumbent will assist Senior/Principal Biomedical Technician to perform safety and preventative maintenance inspections. Troubleshoot, evaluate, install, and repair medical instrumentation. Assist senior biomedical technician to provide equipment in-service to clinical staff as needed. Help senior biomedical technician by serving as a technical resource to Electronic Technician Trainee. Document all work performed to meet the requirements of regulatory and accreditation authorities. Required Qualifications: Trained on major equipment types such as: Patient Monitoring, Medical Lasers, Anesthesia Equipment, and Respiratory Care Equipment Must work overtime as required to meet hospital needs Must possess the skill, knowledge, and ability essential to the successful performance of assigned duties Must demonstrate customer service skills appropriate to the job Must be able to rotate call back duties on nights and weekends for emergency repairs Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English Current State of California Driver’s License Associate of Applied Science degree in electronics technology or biomedical equipment technology OR Biomedical Certificate from 2-year college OR documented Military Biomedical Training OR two (2) years of experience working in biomedical equipment maintenance in a hospital setting Ability to perform equipment troubleshooting down to component level Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the Health System Preferred Qualifications: Understanding of TJC requirements Understanding of NFPA 99, CAP, Title 22 and other regulatory agencies for Clinical Engineering Knowledge of University and medical center organizations, policies, procedures and forms 2 years of hospital experience Conditions of Employment: The University of California, Irvine (UCI) seeks to provide a safe and healthy environment for the entire UCI community.
