Position Summary The Business Systems Analyst Level 3 will be a business systems analyst for Student Affairs Systems, which includes moderate-to-complex systems, but not limited to, Student Information Systems, Financial Aid Systems covering workstudy, scholarships, grants and outside aid for students, MyUCLA Financial Aid applications, Student Health Systems, Degree Audit Reporting System (DARS), Student Records Systems, Financial Aid Systems, Student Affairs Department Systems, and Student Affairs IT Systems, and will be applying thorough knowledge of business and process analysis functions as they pertain to Student Information Systems. The Business Systems Analyst Level 3 operates independently, under the general supervision of the Associate Director of the Business Systems Analyst team in Student Affairs Information Technology (SAIT), and in accordance with policy guidelines set by Student Affairs, the Academic Senate and its committees, campus and university policies, and State and Federal laws. Salary & Compensation *UCLA provides a full pay range. Actual salary offers consider factors, including budget, prior experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business considerations. Qualifications 2 years Years of experience in computer systems, information systems or related area and/or equivalent experience/training (Required) Strong skills and methodologies in managing moderate-to-complex operational systems including providing guidance, managing scope, setting priorities, establishing timelines, directing modifications, assigning work, and providing feedback, and applying through knowledge. (Required) Demonstrated strong skills in eliciting and developing business requirements, specifying and designing inputs and outputs, producing system and programming specifications and requirements and recommending modifications to existing programs and processes. (Required) Strong skills in systems analysis and design for moderate-to-complex systems including completing feasibility studies of proposed projects, analyzing functional processes, determining scope, developing overall system requirements, designing detailed inputs and outputs, and producing detailed system (Required) Demonstrated strong project management, business systems analysis skills, and problem-solving skills. Strong ability to analyze operational and organizational systems: define the problem or objective; identify relevant concerns or factors; identify problems, tendencies and relationships. (Required) formulate logical and objective conclusions; recognize alternatives and their implications; propose alternatives and discuss orally or in writing; and implement procedural changes to affect the desired result. Strong Ability to define testing procedures and to rigorously carry out such procedures. (Required) Thorough knowledge of SQL, SQL objects, and, SQL Server and .NET, Visual Basic, VB Script, VBA, ASP, and JavaScript. Strong ability to learn new programming languages and technology. Demonstrated strong ability to prototype and design user-interface solutions to user problems. (Required) Thorough knowledge of user interface design patterns and strong ability to use tools to wireframe and prototype user interfaces. Thorough knowledge of business systems analysis methodologies which includes developing business systems analysis artifacts (Required) Thorough knowledge of business systems analysis methodologies which includes developing business systems analysis artifacts, such as wireframes, use cases, traceability matrix, and process models . (Required) Strong interpersonal skills to work effectively and diplomatically with diverse groups of administrators, colleagues, managers, technical staff, faculty, students, staff, vendors, representatives of governmental agencies and the public. (Required) Strong oral communication skills sufficient to represent the unit on task forces and committees, to effectively participate in meetings and conferences, and to interact with management, technical, and end-user staff. Strong ability to write comprehensive, well organized, grammatically correct (Required) and lucid reports, proposals, instructional/technical documentation, and technical reports concerning feasibility studies, systems requirements and design, detailed processing requirements, and programming specifications. Ability to overcome obstacles and to meet deadlines. (Required) Thorough knowledge of complex on-line interactive systems and ability to schedule production reports; PC software including MS Office Suite; and desktop publishing, HTML, and graphic software including Adobe products. Strong ability to work independently, following through on assignments.
