job summary:

A Buyer is needed for an American life science and clinical research company in the West Hills, CA area. This role is responsible for managing the end-to-end supply chain process from analyzing material needs and negotiating with vendors to resolving delivery delays and invoice errors to ensure production remains uninterrupted.

salary: $38.45 – 41.00 per hour

responsibilities:

  • Reports to the Supply Chain Manager to procure raw materials, supplies, and equipment.

  • Analyzes MRP (Material Requirements Planning) and customer orders to determine purchasing needs.

  • Negotiates with vendors, obtains quotes, examines bids, and awards purchase orders.

  • Manages the full lifecycle of purchase orders, including rescheduling and expediting deliveries.

  • Identifies and resolves material shortages and daily purchasing issues.

  • Communicates supply status and potential delays to cross-functional teams like Production, Quality, and R&D.

  • Builds and maintains strong professional relationships with multiple suppliers.

  • Manages the return of discrepant or defective inventory to vendors.

  • Reconciles invoice discrepancies in a timely manner to ensure accurate payments.

  • Supports company-wide cost reduction initiatives and participates in supplier performance reviews.

Skills:

  • Ability to work cross-functionally with product management, provide updates to operations and management.

  • Experience working with suppliers – customer facing and supplier management.

  • Ability to use a PC with Microsoft Office software.

  • Ability to perform data entry into an ERP system such as Oracle.

  • Well organized and must have good communication skills.

  • Interaction with Other Employees (level of contact, purpose and frequency)Regularly interfaces with Production leads and Supervisors, Manufacturing Engineering, Quality, Customer Service, Demand Planning, R&D Engineering, Accounts Payable and Document Services.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree general.

  • 2+ years of experience as a buyer (preferably life science).

  • Purchasing certificate preferred.
