Eaton’s IS AER FMC division is currently seeking a Buyer. This position is based our Los Angeles, CA facility.

 

With 250 employees, the Los Angeles facility designs and manufactures quality valves, regulators, and other fluid controls used mostly by the Aerospace Industry.

 

The expected annual salary range for this role is $75037.5 – $110055.0 a year. Please note the salary information shown above is a general guideline only. Salaries are based upon candidate skills, experience, and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations. 

 

The Buyer purchases assigned items such as specific commodities, machinery, precision tools, test equipment etc., by developing a supply base capable of delivering Eaton’s quality, delivery, and specification requirements at the lowest possible cost. The buyer role includes coordinating with strategic sourcing to develop a commodity strategy, sourcing, and managing supplier fulfillment by owning the fulfillment activity from purchase order issuance to part receipt into stock. 

What you’ll do:

  • Fully understand Eaton and its customer requirements and effectively flow these to strategic sourcing group for creation and execution including grow, maintain, and exit supplier strategies. 
  • Define and evaluate supplier performance requirements including quality, cost and timing expectations with cross-functional teams. 
  • Support or lead execution of commercial agreement to reach lowest total cost including terms to mitigate economic and currency fluctuations as appropriate for assigned commodities. Example – long-term agreements, make/buy, market tests, etc. 
  • Develop expertise on procurement of commodities related to hydraulic and pneumatic products and components that support Aerospace requirements.
  • Prepare, analyze, and make sourcing selections using request for quote and documentation to capture requirements (part numbers, drawings/specifications, volumes) and contract terms consistent with commodity strategy. 
  • Quote producibility full bill of material request with extended time since last production. 
  • Coordinate and co-lead supplier quality, capacity, and development meetings with supplier quality and other internal customers to improve supplier performance. 
  • Analyze data, including enterprise requirements (production, aftermarket, indirect) and planning information to facilitate and recommend actions to ensure optimal delivery of supplier materials. 
  • Update and maintain purchase orders in MRP system for changes in design and delivery requirements. 
  • Issue purchase orders in MRP system to suppliers.

Qualifications:

Required (Basic) Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in from an accredited institution.

  • No relocation benefit is being offered for this position. Only candidates that currently reside within 50 miles of the Los Angeles, CA facility will be considered. Active-Duty Military Service member candidates are exempt from the geographical area limitation.
  • This position requires use of information or access to hardware which is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). All applicants must be U.S. persons within the meaning of ITAR. ITAR defines a U.S. person as a U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. ‘Green Card Holder’), Political Asylee, or Refugee.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship now or in the future.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, business, or engineering from an accredited institution.
  • One plus (1+) years of work experience within procurement and supply chain in a manufacturing or operations environment. 
  • CPM or equivalent certification.
  • Use of and deployment of electronic purchasing systems (eRFQ), VMI, and consignment.
  • Aerospace, hydraulic, pneumatic and/or machined parts manufacturing, engineering, cost, and/or procurement requirements knowledge/experience
  • Proficiency with computers including MS Office and MRP systems.
  • Working knowledge of ISO-9001, AS9100
  • Ability to read and interpret technical blueprints.
