Position Summary

Under the general direction of the Director of the Program on Philanthropy, the Program Manager’s responsibilities will include: maintaining the Program’s budget by developing and tracking programmatic and event-specific budgets; managing the staffing needs of the Program, including hiring, training and coordinating daily workflow; overseeing the execution of the Program’s events, including conferences, lunch time talks, speaker series, and symposia; and managing the Program’s communications and marketing needs, including drafting departmental communications and maintaining the Program’s website. The Program Manager will administer the activities of the Program on Philanthropy and Nonprofits in close collaboration with the Program Director and the Faculty Director of the Program and will work closely with the Executive Director and staff of the Lowell Milken Institute on Business Law and Policy.

Salary & Compensation

*UCLA provides a full pay range. Actual salary offers consider factors, including budget, prior experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business considerations. Qualifications

  • 3-5 years Event coordination and/or office management experience. (Required)
  • Demonstrated ability to organize and present complex information effectively to a range of audiences as well as implement the logistical requirements of events and programs. (Required)
  • Familiarity with UCLA administrative procedures and organizational structures (Preferred)
  • Experience managing budgets. (Required)
  • Demonstrated ability to speak clearly, distinctly, and diplomatically to obtain or relay concise, relevant information, while using correct vocabulary and grammar. (Required)
  • Demonstrated listening skills to understand accurately instructions and to carry out tasks. (Required)
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective, collaborative relationships and to enlist support of all levels of faculty, staff, student, campus, and community constituencies and to mobilize team effort to accomplish Program goals. (Required)
  • Ability to set priorities that accurately reflect the relative importance of job responsibilities and deadlines. (Required)
  • Skilled in working collaboratively to prioritize work demands and resources to meet anticipated deadlines. (Required)
  • Ability to take initiative, work independently, organize workflow, establish a productive work environment, and follow through on assignments with minimal supervision. (Required)
  • Ability to post materials online and/or search the Internet for requested information as welll as manage the redesign and maintain the Program’s website and UCLA Law pages. (Required)
  • Familiarity and experience with, or willingness and ability to become familiar with, search-engine based research and utilizing Lexis/Nexis or Westlaw for research. (Required)
  • Resourceful, creative, attentive to detail, and service oriented. Able to analyze situations and define problems or objectives, identify relevant factors, formulate logical conclusions, and recognize alternatives. (Required)

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education and professional experience (Required)

  • Ability to travel offsite for occasional program meetings and events.
  • Flexibility with schedule, with proper notice, as needed to produce and attend events, including occasional early morning, evening, or weekend events.
