Role: Clerical Associate (Garnishments Team)
Duration: 6 Months (Possibility of extension or full-time conversion)
Location: Columbus, OH (Onsite)
Pay: $18-19/hour
Overview:
As a Clerical Associate on the Garnishments Team, you will support payroll compliance by handling sensitive garnishment mail, digital communications, and file uploads. You will work closely with internal partners and vendors via ADP SmartCompliance, ensuring accuracy, confidentiality, and compliance with federal and state regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
Monitor and process garnishment-related physical mail, DigiMail, and emails in the team inbox
Upload and track documents in ADP SmartCompliance for vendor coordination
Review Excel reports (garnishment status, payroll files) and follow up via Outlook/email
Handle confidential documents securely and ensure compliance with internal and legal policies
Perform general clerical duties: scanning, copying, retrieving, and preparing documents for mailing
Communicate professionally with internal teams and external vendors (ADP)
Required Skills & Qualifications
Must-Have:
Garnishment or payroll experience (minimum 6 months – 1 year)
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially:
Excel: Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP, sorting/reconciliation
Outlook: Email management, inbox sorting, communication
Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Highly Preferred:
Experience using ADP SmartCompliance or other payroll/garnishment systems
Microsoft Access knowledge
Understanding of state-specific garnishment requirements
Prior roles supporting garnishment compliance, payroll, or related clerical operations
Hands-on experience with ADP platforms (especially SmartCompliance)
Strong use of Excel for reconciliation and reporting
Experience handling confidential employee or legal information
What a Typical Day Looks Like:
Audit the Garnishments inbox and DigiMail for incoming orders
Review and upload documents to ADP SmartCompliance
Analyze Excel-based reports and flag discrepancies
Communicate with internal stakeholders and ADP vendor to resolve issues
Maintain strict confidentiality and accuracy in all processes
