The UCI Sue & Bill Gross School of Nursing is dedicated to the education of nursing professionals who will improve patient care and promote population health locally and globally. The school strives to produce leaders in research, education, and clinical practice who will champion collaborative, compassionate, and interdisciplinary evidence-based practice. This NIH funded research study is a community-based project working with youth ages 11 to 14 and their families. The project coordinator will participate in all aspects of the project’s day-to-day management. Your Role on the Team Uses professional community educational program concepts to deliver standardized educational and volunteer educational programs. Applies established procedures and programs to address county program educational needs that are limited in scope. Follows standard practices in analyzing program content and delivery needs and determining effectiveness of current programs. Receives detailed instructions on all assignments. The Teaching Healthy Regulation in Individuals & Variable Environments (THRIVE) Research Community Health Worker (CHW) will closely work with the primary Principal Investigator (PI) and THRIVE Project Coordinator (PC) with all overall research activities including (1) delivering a psychoeducational health coaching intervention to adolescents and their caregivers over Zoom, (2) collecting research data in community settings, (3) assisting research participant recruitment with PI and PC, and (4) providing other general administrative support. Bilingual English/Spanish (fluent speaking, reading and writing in Spanish required. What It Takes to be Successful Required: Knowledge or experience in program content and objectives. Knowledge of how to deliver educational programs in a variety of settings. Organizational skills to develop a project plan, monitor plans against established deadlines, and review and analyze results. Basic effective reading, verbal, written communications, and presentation skills to interact with individuals from diverse backgrounds. Ability to maintain positive interactions with others and work cooperatively. Experience using business software systems in the completion of work assignments; i.e., Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint. Proficiency in smartphone use, Adobe PDF, and Google Docs. Demonstrated high-level communications skills to convey information in a clear and concise way. Demonstrated skill in interacting with persons in various social, cultural, economic and educational background. Demonstrated skill in excellent time management. Strong attention to detail. Ability to establish and maintain files and records. Demonstrated ability to properly evaluate information, and prepare concise, well-organized reports, summaries, and correspondence. Ability to think critically, compile data from various sources, and prepare reports. Skill in working independently, taking initiative, and following through on all assignments. Ability to work as a supportive, cooperative member of a team. Ability to multitask and meet deadlines within a fast-paced environment with frequent disruptions. Ability to drive to travel to community sites including interstate routes. Bilingual in English/Spanish with high fluency in speaking, reading, and writing in Spanish. Must have a bachelor’s degree in related field (e.g., nursing, social work, public health, psychology, sociology, biology). 1-3 years of relevant work experience with a college/university education (e.g., AD, BA/BS or higher degree) in related field (e.g., Nursing, Social Work, Public Health, Psychology) or equivalent experience in community-based education projects (e.g., youth, caregivers, mental health, health education). Travel to research participants’ homes for education, as well as to community sites for recruitment, such as having meetings with organizations and local medical offices Bilingual English/Spanish (fluent speaking, reading and writing in Spanish).
