Position Title: Computational Biologist

Salary: $95,000-115,000/year

Overview

Are you passionate about using advanced computational techniques to make a real impact on patient care? As a computational biologist, you will join dynamic cross-functional teams to design, implement, and enhance sophisticated computational pipelines for the high-throughput analysis of diverse NGS data types. Your efforts will focus on maximizing efficiency, quality, reliability, and user satisfaction in data analysis, processing, visualization, and storage.

Responsibilities

Research and Development:

  • Explore and evaluate a variety of algorithms, methods, and data sources.
  • Recommend enhancements or new pipelines and draft SOPs for their implementation.
  • Write specifications for software development integration and oversee pipeline development.
  • Stay abreast of best practices and emerging techniques in the field.

Production and Customer Support:

  • Troubleshoot and resolve analysis and production pipeline issues.
  • Review client projects for pipeline compatibility, offer recommendations, and customize as necessary.
  • Manage sequencing service projects to ensure timely delivery, quality outcomes, and client satisfaction.
  • Support software and LIMS developers in automation initiatives.
  • Perform specialized analyses tailored to specific projects.

Data Maintenance:

  • Investigate, validate, and deploy/update annotation and reference data sources.
  • Document methodologies and results in detailed reports and SOPs.

Validation:

  • Develop and document procedures for testing and validating new or updated pipelines.
  • Maintain and document data used in validation processes.

Qualifications

  • Education: Ph.D. in Bioinformatics, Biostatistics, or a related field from an accredited institution.
  • Experience: Proficient in analyzing various types of NGS data, with a solid grasp of statistics for big data analysis and multi-omics data integration.
  • Skills: Strong hands-on experience with bioinformatics databases, tools, and relevant programming languages. Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary environment, troubleshoot effectively, and communicate openly and clearly.
  • Desirable: Experience in team software development and integration projects is a significant plus.
