We are a busy and growing construction firm in Long Beach, CA seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Construction Bookkeeper to manage our financial operations. This full-time position offers a competitive salary and the opportunity to work in a dynamic, team-oriented environment.
Responsibilities:
Maintain accurate financial records including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger entries.
Perform job costing and track project budgets, expenses, and profitability.
Reconcile bank statements and credit card transactions.
Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning.
Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal financial regulations.
Collaborate with project managers and estimators to ensure accurate financial tracking.
Manage subcontractor payments and lien releases.
Handle vendor invoicing and payment processing.
Support year-end audit and tax preparation.
Qualifications:
Proven experience as a bookkeeper in the construction industry.
Strong proficiency in BIS Software or similar construction management platforms.
Solid understanding of job costing and construction accounting principles.
Proficiency in QuickBooks and Microsoft Excel.
Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset.
Preferred Experience:
3+ years of bookkeeping experience in a construction or contracting environment.
Familiarity with AIA billing and certified payroll reporting.
Experience with project management software and ERP systems.
