A mission-driven nonprofit in the greater Los Angeles area. With a budget exceeding $100 million and a commitment to operational excellence, we are seeking an experience Controller to join our leadership team and help drive financial integrity and strategic growth.

Position Summary
We are looking for an experienced and dynamic Controller with over 10 years in the accounting and finance field, including a minimum of 4 years in a Controller role within a large organization. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of managing complex budgets of $100M+ and leading high-performing finance teams of 5 or more direct reports.

Key Responsibilities
Oversee all day-to-day accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and financial reporting.
Lead the month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
Prepare and present financial statements, budget variance reports, and forecasts to senior leadership and the Board.
Ensure compliance with GAAP, federal and state regulations, and nonprofit-specific financial standards.
Manage and mentor a team of accounting professionals, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
Collaborate with program and development teams to support grant reporting and funder compliance.
Serve as the primary liaison for external audits and ensure timely completion of audit requirements.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA or MBA preferred).
10+ years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 4 years as a Controller.
Experience managing a budget of $100 million or more.
Proven leadership experience managing 5+ direct reports in a large, complex organization.
Strong knowledge of nonprofit accounting, fund accounting, and financial compliance.
Excellent analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Proficiency in financial systems and tools (e.g., NetSuite, Blackbaud, QuickBooks, Excel).
