Position Summary Under the general direction of the Project Lead (Principal Investigator) and Project Director of the Governors’ Climate and Forests Task Force (GCF Task Force), the Director of Finance and Operations will provide a broad range of professional financial and operational services for the GCF Task Force, which is a project based at the UCLA School of Law and Institute of the Environment and Sustainability (IoES) that supports a network of 39 state and provincial governments from 10 countries to reduce deforestation, attract sustainable finance, and combat climate change. These services can include budgeting, financial management and reporting (including to internal and external constituents), contractual services, payroll, recharge services, management of the contract and grant process, tracking expenses against project budgets, and other duties as assigned. These services will also include serving as part of the GCF Task Force senior management team on strategic fiscal and organizational planning. The Director of Finance and Operations will work in close collaboration with the Project Lead, Project Director, and other senior administrators, and with University central campus administrators, Law School administrators, senior administrators at IoES, and the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research, as well as contract and grant officials at extramural funding agencies. Strong analytical skills and ease manipulating and interpreting a broad range of financial data are required. The position has oversight of an annual budget in excess of $2.5 million and growing from multiple fund sources, which may include general, extramural, and intramural funds. Salary & Compensation *UCLA provides a full pay range. Actual salary offers consider factors, including budget, prior experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business considerations. Qualifications At least 7 years previous experience as a financial manager and contract/grant administrator responsible for federal and state funded contract and grant awards and awards made by private foundatio (Required) Demonstrated knowledge of various UCLA departments (including Office of Contracts & Grants Administration, Sponsored Research, and Extramural Funds Management) policies, procedures and reporting requirements for contracts and grants. (Required) Advanced ability to plan, direct and monitor budgetary matters, including budget preparation and administration of expenditures. (Required) Advanced knowledge of computers, research databases, and software necessary to perform responsibilities. (Required) Advanced skill in writing in order to produce professional, clear and compelling proposals, public announcements, and routine business correspondence; and the ability to evaluate and edit any of these for content, style and format. (Required) Excellent command of the English language and facility in spelling, grammar, usage and style consistent with professional writing standards. (Required) Excellent interpersonal skills to interact and communicate effectively with faculty, staff, students and other campus departments. Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with other University offices and the public. (Required) Demonstrated skill in working independently and following through on assignments with minimal supervision. (Required) Ability to maintain confidentiality of information with tact and discretion. (Required) Strong organizational skills and ability to work effectively under conditions of heavy workload, frequent interruptions, distractions, and deadlines.
