Position Overview
We are seeking an accomplished Electrical Engineer IV to join our team as a Subject Matter Expert (SME). This pivotal role involves architecting, designing, researching, and developing advanced electrical systems for space applications. As an SME, you will provide strategic guidance on Electrical Engineering (EE) projects, driving innovation and recommending technical paths for business expansion across the company. You will lead and mentor engineering teams, ensuring the successful execution of highly complex projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Complex Projects: Lead and contribute to multiple complex projects requiring innovative solutions. Oversee development programs with comprehensive involvement across the entire lifecycle from concept through decommission.
- Technical Planning: Develop technical plans, estimates, and schedules. Ensure projects are completed on time and within budget, managing multiple initiatives simultaneously.
- Leadership & Mentorship: Provide leadership and strong influence over technical staff. Mentor junior engineers and offer guidance to ensure successful project outcomes.
- Scope & Impact: Ensure project results are critical to the successful completion of major programs, shaping key aspects of project success.
- Independent Work: Operate with minimal supervision, exercising substantial initiative and judgment in work methods and goal implementation.
- Technical Documentation: Prepare detailed design review data packages, proposals, and other technical documents.
Technical Depth & Breadth
- Expertise: Serve as an SME with an in-depth understanding of multiple systems and their interactions.
- Innovation: Develop innovative solutions to unique and complex electrical engineering problems.
- Industry Practices: Apply industry best practices and maintain familiarity with emerging trends.
- RCCA Processes: Demonstrate proficiency in Root Cause and Corrective Action (RCCA) processes, producing comprehensive RCCA reports.
- Recognition: Achieve recognition for professional abilities and technical accomplishments within the company and the broader engineering community.
- Strategic Development: Develop and implement strategic technical paths to capture significant follow-on business opportunities.
Communication & Interpersonal Skills
- Training & Mentoring: Effectively train and mentor work groups, leading and influencing teams within the engineering department.
- Presentation Skills: Deliver impactful presentations to various audiences, including customers and organizational leadership. Write persuasive proposals and reports.

Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field with 10-14 years of experience, Master’s Degree with 8-12 years of experience, or Ph.D. with 5-9 years of experience.
- Experience: Extensive experience in electrical engineering, particularly in space applications, with a proven track record of leading complex projects and delivering innovative solutions.
