Key Responsibilities:
Design & Development:
- Lead the design and development of circuit card assemblies and electronic systems.
- Manage the specification and control processes for Printed Circuit Board (PCB) artwork and Printed Wiring Board (PWB) fabrication.
- Oversee the integration of Electronic Design, PWB layout, and Component Engineering to ensure efficient product development.
- Support programs within a matrix organizational structure.
Project Leadership:
- Direct and coordinate all activities for major electrical engineering projects or multiple smaller projects.
- Define, train, monitor, and enforce engineering design processes.
- Initiate and manage major development process phase transitions, ensuring compliance and approval of requirements before proceeding.
Program Cost & Schedule Performance:
- Negotiate and establish task budgets for development programs.
- Communicate budget commitments and expectations with assigned staff.
- Review and summarize performance metrics, analyze areas for improvement, and adjust future estimations based on past performance.
Administration:
- Manage personnel, including performance reviews, career path development, training programs, and corrective actions.
- Handle general administrative tasks, such as timecards, vacation approvals, and more.
Staffing & Task Assignment:
- Recruit new talent by crafting job descriptions, reviewing resumes, and conducting interviews.
- Allocate personnel to various programs and manage departmental budgets.
- Define necessary tools and oversee their annual maintenance.
- Track external training, conferences, and identify additional staffing requirements.
New Business Support:
- Provide technical support for proposals, including defining technical approaches and writing proposals.
- Develop Basis of Estimates (BOEs) for cost evaluations.
- Offer on-call technical support for customer interactions and inquiries.
- Collaborate with key engineers to author and publish “White Papers” and technical articles.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in Electronic Engineering, including a minimum of 5 years in a leadership/management role.
- Must be a U.S. citizen or authorized to work in the U.S.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 2+ years of experience as an Engineering Manager in a matrix organization structure.
- Recent technical experience in aerospace industry applications (Military, Aerospace, and Space).
