A Environmental Geologist/Engineer is needed for a leader in the world of Technical Services and Engineering in the Vernon, CA area. This role involves conducting geological and environmental fieldwork, including soil and water sampling, data analysis, reporting, and subcontractor supervision, while ensuring compliance with safety regulations and project timelines.

salary: $21 – 31 per hour

work hours: 8am to 5pm

education: Bachelors

 

responsibilities:

Apply standard geological and environmental science principles in both field and office tasks

  • Conduct soil, surface water, groundwater, sediment, and other environmental sampling
  • Classify and sample soil during drilling, test pitting, and excavation activities
  • Supervise drillers and subcontractors during field operations
  • Prioritize health and safety while executing field projects
  • Complete necessary field documentation, including:
  • Activity Hazard Analysis (AHA) forms
  • Project field reports
  • Field notes
  • Sampling records
  • Chain-of-custody forms
  • Assist in geological and environmental analysis, including:
  • Hydrogeology
  • Geochemistry
  • Interpret environmental sample analysis results in relation to the geological setting
  • Prepare environmental data visualizations such as:
  • Potentiometric surface maps
  • Geologic maps
  • Cross-sections
  • Contribute to report preparation on completed fieldwork
  • Provide technical guidance to junior geologists or environmental scientists
  • Collaborate with project managers to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget
  • Perform additional duties as required

Skills/Competencies:

  • Familiarity with environmental regulations (preferred)
  • Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including:
  • Standing for extended periods
  • Walking on rough, uneven, or rocky terrain
  • Lifting and bending repeatedly
  • Capable of working in adverse weather conditions (e.g., extreme heat, cold, rain, snow)
  • strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently in the field or as part of a team

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Geology or a related field
  • Typically requires 3+ years of relevant work experience
