Position Summary Under general supervision of the Football Chief of Staff, the Executive Director of Athlete Engagement and External Affairs will support football student-athletes in their pursuits in the classroom, community and in competition. The primary function is to support the office of Academic Excellence for football and monitor student-athlete academic progress. Successful candidate will serve as an intermediary between the Football Coaching Staff and the Office of Academic Excellence (OAE) staff in academic matters. This position acts within NCAA, UC, UCLA, Big Ten and department policies to maximize the efficiency and time for student-athletes within the Football program to prepare them for success in life after graduation. Additionally, this role supports the implementation of Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) opportunities for football student-athletes while fostering their personal, professional, and academic growth. Additionally, this role will focus on building strong external relationships with alumni, donors, and business leaders to enhance NIL opportunities and raise funds to support athlete development programs and athletic department initiatives. Salary & Compensation *UCLA provides a full pay range. Actual salary offers consider factors, including budget, prior experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business considerations. Salary offers at the top of the range are not common. Qualifications Experience working in an NCAA Division I Intercollegiate Athletic Department. (Preferred) Knowledge and ability to comply with Big Ten Conference and NCAA rules and regulations. (Required) Demonstrated ability to exercise sound judgment to handle sensitive and confidential information/material with discretion. (Required) Incumbent must be skilled in managing and organizing personnel, equipment, and material resources in order to provide the most efficient working environment. (Required) Takes responsibility for decisions, actions, performance and outcomes. Works in a responsible manner with positive attitude, shows self-awareness and is open to feedback and improvement. (Required) Must have the ability to analyze situations and systems, identify problems, and implement solutions impartially and fairly. (Required) Demonstrated ability to be adaptive and flexible in work environment, diagnose potential issues, and address proper individuals in advance to achieve common goal in positive manner. (Required) Incumbent must have excellent writing and oral communication skills and outstanding interpersonal skills to communicate and collaborate effectively at a variety of levels including department and university staff, coaches, faculty, recruits, parents, donors, Conference and NCAA administrators. (Required) Ability to interact diplomatically with individuals of various social, cultural, economic and educational backgrounds and Promote a culture of diversity and inclusion. (Required) Ability to perform and communicate effectively under stress and maintain composure in the face of resistance, indifference or hostility. (Required) Ability to operate a computer with working knowledge of various computer software systems including Microsoft Office, Teamworks, Concur, and others. (Required) Knowledge of University policies and procedures. (Preferred) Education, Licenses, Certifications & Personal Affiliations Bachelor?s degree or equivalent work experience and training.
