Field Work Consultant/Youth Behavioral Health and Well-Being Project Coordinator University of California Los Angeles Requisition Number: JPF10916 POSITION: Field Work Consultant/Project Coordinator, Fiscal Year (11 month), 100% time OVERVIEW: Responsible for the operation and implementation of practicum education experiences for students that focus on the delivery of the Council on Social Work Education competencies and Youth Behavioral Health competencies. Includes the development of educational programs for students and collaboration and coordination with public and private agencies in Los Angeles, and surrounding counties. Candidate will be expected to teach courses and to support the recruitment of students for stipend training programs. Requires expertise in youth and young adult behavioral health and will focus on a new privately funded stipend program. RESPONSIBILITIES: Coordinates a new stipend training program and monitor adherence to grant responsibilities Develops new and on-going training modules for youth and young adult behavioral health competencies with a particular focus on grassroots community agencies and culturally resonant methods. Consults with practicum agency practicum instructors and/or preceptors to develop internship sites for students. Identifies, develops, and provides training, seminars and other practicum work support that focus on the delivery of the assigned program’s competencies. Works and collaborates with the Principal Investigator, Director of Practicum Education, and other Practicum Education Faculty to plan and implement educational experiences and activities for the practicum education program. Facilitates and functions as practicum faculty in assigned practicum seminar, student orientation and practicum instructor trainings. Interprets school policies and requirements; monitors and evaluates students’ progress; advises assigned program students; evaluates practicum instructors and agency’s performance; mediates problems and/or disputes. Contributes to relevant written materials as needed, e.g. practicum manual, learning agreements, school policies that impact the practicum education curriculum and support the internships. Monitors and evaluates liability, malpractice, and risk management issues for students and agencies. Provide due process, input, and feedback for agencies, practicum instructors, and students. Participates in departmental committees, curriculum development and special projects, as assigned. Teaches in the MSW program. REQUIREMENTS: Incumbent must possess a Master’s Degree in Social Work; LCSW is preferred. Demonstrated success in agency-based social work practice specific to program area. Supervisory experience of both staff and students in the role of practicum instructor preferred. Incumbent must have excellent written and oral communication skills. Ability to work effectively with populations experiencing multiple barriers to accessing services Minimum five years of practice experience with a minimum of two years of experience in youth community well-being and behavioral health settings. Experience teaching at the instructor level at a University preferred. Evidence of research and writing agenda in area of specialization.
