Department Summary Earth, Planetary, and Space Sciences (EPSS) is a department in the division of physical sciences. EPSS has a approximately 25 faculty members and a large research portfolio which is focused on all aspects of life in the universe. Position Summary The department of Earth, Planetary, and Space Sciences (EPSS) is looking to recruit for another purchasing specialist to work with another purchaser under the supervision of Contracts and Grants Supervisor. This position is eligible for remote work and has an expectation to report in-person on various days of the week. The demand for in-person days varies quarter to quarter. Salary & Compensation *UCLA provides a full pay range. Actual salary offers consider factors, including budget, prior experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business considerations. Qualifications Knowledge and experience with accounting, purchasing, travel, extramural funding agencies, and facilities management services. (Preferred) And Knowledge in UCLA System BruinBuy+ (Preferred) Demonstrated skill in setting priorities to reflect varying levels of importance of multiple assignments. Organizational skills to maintain accurate records of transactions. Sufficient knowledge and skill to identify, organize, and systematize data and procedures for the development (Required) Working knowledge of university systems such as BruinBuy, Concur, CashNet, Online Financial Systems Reports (OFSR), Transfer of Funds (TOF), Non-Pay Expenditure Adjustment Request (NPEAR), Interdepartmental Recharge, and Information Technology Services (ITS). (Preferred) Demonstrated oral communication skills to explain simple and/or complex polices and procedures to faculty, staff, students, and administrative personnel. (Required) Demonstrated math skills sufficient to perform basic calculations, ratios, rates, percentages and other financial information with speed and accuracy. Advanced knowledge of debits and credits. Skill in gathering and displaying data using spreadsheet functions. (Required) Ability to communicate effectively, using appropriate vocabulary and grammar. Ability to obtain and convey information to individuals and groups of varying sizes at multiple organizational levels. (Required) Ability to maintain regular on-time hours and schedule. (Preferred) Education, Licenses, Certifications & Personal Affiliations Bachelor’s Degree in related area and/or experience/training (Required) Special Conditions for Employment Background Check: Continued employment is contingent upon the completion of a satisfactory background investigation.
