The Department of Physical Education & Mind Body Health in the Dana and David Dornsife College of Letters, Arts and Sciences at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles, California provides a variety of opportunities for students to improve their general health and fitness through fitness and wellness activities and classroom lecture classes. We are seeking outstanding candidates for a full-time lecturer or instructor position for the 2024-2025 academic year. Qualified applicants should have a strong background in Physical Education, Kinesiology, Recreation, or related fields, possess certifications in related fitness areas, and have demonstrated excellence in teaching a variety of fitness courses. Under the guidance of the Director of Physical Education & Mind Body Health, the primary responsibilities will include instruction of both activity-based fitness and classroom lecture courses. Our pedagogy philosophy is to make an impact on students overall wellbeing through teaching and building community, through a diverse, equitable, and inclusive learning environment. Minimum Qualifications Masters Degree in any of the following: Physical Education Exercise Science Recreational Sport/Administration Education (with an emphasis in Physical Education, Kinesiology, Physiology of Exercise or Adaptive Physical Education) Bachelor’s Degree in any of the following: Any Life Science Dance Physiology Health Education Recreational Sports Physical Therapyor the equivalent Additional Preferred Qualifications Prior teaching experience in college-level courses and/or training certifications in the domains of wellness, health, and fitness. Participation in relevant committees, student outreach programs, and professional organizations are strongly encouraged.
