FY25 – Instructor Special Assignment, LA Region K-16 Collaborative Project Coordinator LOS ANGELES COMMUNITY COLLEGE DISTRICT P ROFESSIONAL O PPORTUNITIES West Los Angeles College FY25 – Instructor Special Assignment – LA Region K-16 Collaborative Project Coordinator (Limited SFP .60) DESCRIPTION West Los Angeles College (WLAC) is accepting applications for a 0.6 Project Coordinator assignment (maximum of 21 hours per week) for WLAC’s LA Region K-16 Collaborative grant housed in Academic Affairs. The goal of the LA Region K-16 Collaborative grant is to recruit and coordinate educational and employment partners and build and maintain academic and career pathways for K-16 students and partners in computer science and healthcare in the South Bay region. These pathways would integrate educational and industry certifications and prepare students to successfully transfer to 4-year university partners and into the workforce. The coordinator will lead initiatives aimed at strengthening partnerships between WLAC, California State University, Dominguez Hills (CSUDH), and University of California, Irvine (UCI) to enhance articulation agreements for Computer Science and Computer Technology programs and Health Sciences Programs. This role focuses on creating structured pathways for student transfers, developing robust faculty advisory systems, and implementing comprehensive career advising strategies. The ideal candidate will be dedicated to increasing student transfer rates and fostering students’ academic and career success. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum qualifications to teach any discipline offered at WLAC. Demonstrated sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, and ethnic backgrounds of community college faculty, staff, and students. DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS Knowledge and experience with project management, partner recruitment and coordination, report writing, and budget management. Experience in career and technical education programs including curriculum development, articulation, planning, career development, labor analysis, and State and Federal Initiatives. Project management or coordinator experience, preferably at a community college. Knowledge of community college programs, educational pathways, and university transfer requirements. Sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, staff, and faculty. Learn and implement District policies and procedures, California Education Code regulations, and state and federal laws, and apply sound judgment in a variety of procedural situations. Ability to communicate effectively in oral and written English. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Coordinate the efforts of WLAC faculty with UCI and CSUDH faculty and administration to update and create articulation agreements for Computer Science and Computer Technology programs and Healthcare programs. Coordinate the update of existing agreements to ensure clarity and accessibility for students. Coordinate the development of clear roadmaps for students outlining required courses for transfer, enhancing understanding of academic pathways. Establish and manage a faculty advisory group dedicated to supporting students throughout their educational journey. o Ensure advisors provide necessary resources, including connections to career centers and other support services (e.g., Fresh Success, Puente, Transfer Honors). Coordinate the work towards increasing student transfer rates from 18% to at least 21% through effective program implementation and student engagement strategies. Attend regular meetings with stakeholders, including faculty, administrators, and community partners, to discuss project progress and collaboration. Prepare and submit regular reports on project activities, outcomes, and impact as required by grant guidelines.
