LATTC is a two-year community college located in downtown Los Angeles. Each semester, the college serves approximately 13,000 students from diverse socio-economic backgrounds. JOB DESCRIPTION: Los Angeles Trade Technical College (LATTC) is accepting applications for a part-time Instructor Special Assignment, Nursing Program Student Coordinator position at our college beginning for Spring 2025. LATTC is seeking a dynamic, motivated, and diverse candidate to engage our students. The Student Coordinator for the Nursing Program is responsible for providing comprehensive support to nursing students throughout their academic journey. This role involves coordinating student services, supporting academic success, clinical placement coordination, advising students on academic matters, and assisting with the overall administrative functions of the nursing program. The Student Coordinator plays a key role in enhancing student experiences by serving as a primary point of contact for nursing students and ensuring they receive the resources necessary for their academic and clinical success. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum qualifications to teach any discipline offered at LATTC. Demonstrated sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, and ethnic backgrounds of community college faculty, staff, and students. DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS At least one year of recent experience working in the registered nursing. At least a bachelor’s degree in any related Health & Related Sciences field of study. Strong organizational, communication, and people skills. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a demanding environment. Knowledge of nursing education standards and regulations. Proficiency in computer applications and record-keeping software. Strong commitment to student success and a passion for supporting nursing students in achieving their academic and professional goals. Ability to work in a challenging environment and oversee multiple responsibilities simultaneously. Flexibility and adaptability to changing program needs. Job Summary : Key Responsibilities: Student Support & Advising : Function as the first point of contact for nursing students regarding academic and program-related inquiries. Monitor academic progress and work closely with faculty to identify students in need of academic support or remediation. Assist students with the clinical clearance process, including immunization tracking, background checks, and compliance with clinical site requirements. Academic and Program Coordination and Evaluation : Maintain and update student academic records and ensure compliance with program standards and accreditation requirements. Coordinate the scheduling of student advising appointments, student meetings, and other program-related activities. Collaborate with faculty to assist with student evaluation processes, including performance reviews and progression tracking. Clinical Placement Coordination : Coordinate student clinical placements in collaboration with clinical faculty and partner healthcare institutions. Communicate clinical assignment details to students and ensure they meet all prerequisites for clinical participation. Serve as the liaison between students and clinical sites to resolve placement-related issues or conflicts. Maintain accurate records of clinical site contracts, agreements, and evaluations. Orientation and Student Events : Coordinate workshops, seminars, and student success programs focused on study skills, time management, stress management, and professional development. Support and organize student events, such as career fairs, graduation ceremonies, and pinning ceremonies. Student Success Initiatives : Work with the Nursing Program Director and faculty to develop initiatives aimed at improving student retention and success, including tutoring, mentoring, and peer support programs. Regularly communicate with students regarding resources for academic and clinical success, including tutoring, counseling, and wellness services. Data Management & Reporting : Maintain accurate student databases and track student progression through the program. Prepare and present reports on student performance, retention rates, and program outcomes to program leadership. Assist in gathering data for program accreditation and review processes. Communication and Outreach : Maintain open and clear communication with students, faculty, and staff regarding program updates, changes, and announcements. Serve as a point of contact for prospective students, providing program information and guidance on the application and admission process. Administrative Support : Provide administrative support to the Nursing Program Director and faculty as needed, including scheduling meetings, preparing correspondence, and maintaining program files. Assist with the coordination and execution of special projects and initiatives as directed by program leadership. Work Schedule: This is a part-time position, with flexible hours. The twenty (20) hours per week specific work schedule will be determined based on a meeting with the candidate of choice. This is a .67 FTE C Basis adjunct Limited position. COMPENSATION The salary schedule for adjunct instructors begins at $86.85 per standard hour. Applicants with a doctoral degree are eligible for a doctoral differential.
