Graduate Intern for Women’s Leadership and Community Engagement, Both Campus Locations Job Description: To assist the Assistant Director in running the Mount Saint Mary’s University, Community Engagement programs and support other student engagement efforts. This position will help develop and execute comprehensive community engagement programs to be used for and by traditional undergraduate students in keeping with the mission of the university and the strategic plan. Position Hourly Rate Range: $16.78- $18.12 Hiring salary can be above the posted pay range if candidate’s qualifications are determined to be above the minimum requirements of the position description. Duties and Responsibilities: Helps provide access to Community Engagement programs for traditional undergraduate students through workshops, events, counseling, and resources with the ability to host events. Works with Director of Women’s Leadership and Community Engagement and Assistant Director for Women’s Leadership and Community Engagement to develop, promote and execute Community Engagement programming and support community events throughout the year. Past events have included Alternative Spring Break, President’s Invitation to Serve, and monthly volunteer programs. Assists in the development and maintenance of relationships with Community Partners and community organizations to secure community learning opportunities. Helps provide leadership for student community engagement experiences and opportunities through classroom presentations and individual counseling. Works with the rest of the Women’s Leadership and Student Engagement team to assure appropriate preparation for volunteer/community engagement opportunities including the inquiry, application, experience, reflection, debriefing and assessment processes as appropriate. Assists in the tracking and evaluation of student/community learning experiences. Represents the Community Engagement Program to current students, prospective students and other appropriate groups and individuals. Performs other duties as assigned. Other Duties and Responsibilities: Occasional additional work hours may be required (weekends, evenings or non-normal work days) for events, conferences or other Community Engagement programs. All effort will be made to respect Graduate Interns requests regarding these non-normal hours. Graduate Interns will, on occasion, be required to attend events and/or programs at the campus that is not their normal workplace. Graduate Interns may be required to attend University and/or Student Affairs events, such as Convocation, staff meetings, training, etc. Requirements: Knowledge: Understanding of a university environment and student needs. Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Canva, Outlook, and social media. Event planning and implementation Abilities and Skills: Effective written and oral communication. Must possess the ability to plan, organize, and handle multiple functions simultaneously and communicate clearly and professionally, both verbally and in writing Ability to work independently, handle multiple tasks, be organized and meet deadlines. Accurately assess when administrative support is necessary. Demonstrate skill working with individuals and groups with a wide array of identities and life experiences, including gender, disability, class, race/ethnicity, culture and religion. Education: Bachelors’ degree required Must be a graduate student in the field of Higher Education, Student Affairs, Counseling Psychology, or related program for the duration of their employment Experience: Previous coursework or exposure to community engagement is preferred.
