Description
The Graduate Student Care Coordinator is to enhance and expand MSMU’s existing Student Care support for students at the graduate level, the Graduate Student Care Coordinator will focus on cultivating a sense of belonging and connection through culturally responsive practices and programming. Under the supervision of the Dean of Students, and in collaboration with the Assistant Director of Student Care and Title V PPOHA Project Director, the Graduate Student Care Coordinator will meet one on one with graduate students of concern, plan and facilitate programs focused on graduate student belonging and connection, as well as establish and manage the Graduate Peer Mentoring Program.
Work Location: Doheny Campus (Downtown Los Angeles). Hybrid work schedule available.

Annual Salary Rate Range: $68,640.00
Monthly Salary Rate Range: $5,720.00
Hiring salary can be above the posted pay range if candidate’s qualifications are determined to be above the minimum requirements of the position description.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Serve as the primary case manager for all graduate students in need of support and resource coordination for their personal wellbeing and academic success; using software for case management and documentation.
- Connect graduate students to campus and community resources related to academic progress, basic needs support, financial aid and financial literacy, career and professional development.
- Assist with distributing Title V PPOHA scholarship and emergency aid funds for graduate students to mitigate barriers to enrollment, retention, and degree completion.
- Design and implement programming for graduate students including psychoeducational workshops addressing management of traumatic stress, healing intergenerational trauma, and a book series designed for MSMU’s unique student population.
- Collaborate Career & Professional Development to design and implement career talks for students at the graduate level.
- Collaborate with other departments in the Division of Student Affairs to develop student clubs promoting graduate student belonging and connection.
- Design and implement the Graduate Peer Mentoring Program; ensuring the use of inclusive training protocols and service delivery.
- Participate in Title V PPOHA project management team meetings.
- Develop program assessment tools and regular monthly and annual statistical reports to track program efficacy and ensure grant deliverables are delivered on-time.
- Build relationships with community resources and local non-profit agencies who provide support to youth and adults experiencing housing insecurity, food insecurity and other basic needs support.
Other Duties and Responsibilities:
- Monthly Service Delivery Report to include utilization data, demographics, and trends observed.
- Updated printed and web-based resource materials, presentations and marketing.
- Provide observations or recommendations for future service delivery.
- Responsibilities include working some nights and weekends.
- Position located primarily at Doheny campus with travel to Chalon campus as needed.
Job Requirements:
Knowledge:
- Professional experience in student support or advising in a higher education setting, preferably with graduate students.
- Knowledge of student case management practices in a college or university setting.
- Understanding of academic policies and degree requirements in a higher education setting, preferably with graduate students.
- Professional experience with program evaluation and assessment.
- Demonstrated commitment to providing equity-minded, trauma-informed support to historically minoritized individuals and/or communities.
Abilities and Skills:
- Ability to work with MSMU’s unique graduate student population.
- Ability to manage difficult situations that are emotionally charged with compassion, sound judgement and within departmental guidelines.
- Ability to work independently with consultation as needed.
- Strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills; experience presenting to large and small groups of MSMU graduate students, faculty and staff.
- Ability to explain complex information and processes in a succinct way.
- Effectively organize, prioritize, and handle multiple tasks to meet established deadlines.
- Discretion with confidential information.
- Analytical and detail-oriented.
- Understanding of, and sensitivity to the needs of a small, private, faith-based university environment.
- Ability to easily build rapport and work well with graduate student population and collaborate effectively with staff and faculty.
- Innovative and creative.
Education:
- Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology, Higher Education or related field from an accredited university.
Experience:
- At least three years of professional experience in a clinical or educational setting.
