DESCRIPTION
Michael Baker International’s well-established Transportation Practice in California is seeking a Department Manager to join our Santa Ana Office! This role offers an outstanding opportunity to lead a team of engineers in executing highway and roadway projects for both local municipal and statewide clients.
- Collaborate with our Southern California Transportation Practice Leaders to develop targeted client service action plans.
- Lead the strategic positioning for major highway or roadway project opportunities.
- Coordinate the design and plan preparation for roadway, highway, and freeway improvement projects for State, City, and County agencies in California.
- Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. Assign, review, and check work of the project delivery team, identifying changes in scope and additional services.
- Cultivate and maintain client relationships, leading proposal development and interview preparation.
- Provide technical direction, support, and active participation in the Transportation community via professional organizations.
- Develop and maintain trusted adviser relationships with key transportation clients.
- Lead market awareness initiatives, including professional associations and conferences.
- Manage client relationships and guide the application of Michael Baker International services within the Transportation practice area.
- Coordinate successful contracting and project execution, working closely with regional staff and office leadership.
PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Civil Engineering.
- 15+ years of Transportation/Public Works experience with growing levels of responsibility, including design-build experience.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license.
- Extensive knowledge of regulatory issues and key players in the California transportation market.
- Positive relationships with City, County, and State agencies.
- Demonstrated supervisory and mentoring skills.
- Outstanding proposal writing and presentation abilities.
- Entrepreneurial spirit to help grow our Transportation practice.
COMPENSATION
The salary range for this position is up to $275,000, depending on the experience and expertise of the incoming candidate.
