Your Role on the Team Position Summary: Incumbent performs non-licensed medical care in an assigned pre and post operative area of Interventional Radiology. Functions include: obtaining and recording vital signs pre and post operatively on procedure patients. Checking in pre op patients and ensuring that patients are prepared for nursing staff pre procedure assessments. Assisting charge nurse with patient movement to and from procedure rooms. Work with IR team to perform 24 hour post procedure calls on outpatients. Support patient needs in recovery room: assisting to restroom, providing non nursing comfort if needed and communicate needs with clinical teams. Performs clerical functions associated with the operations of a clinical procedure area as necessary. Will have responsibility for cleaning recovery bay area for patient turn over. Provides end of visit/procedure summary to patients and reviews patient education according to the written discharge documents. Will function as the liaison from patient to nursing and clinical staff. Other duties as assigned withing scope of practice. Required Qualifications: Understanding of medical terminology Must possess the skill, knowledge and ability essential to the successful performance of assigned duties Must have Medical Assistant certificate, Certified Nurse Assistant certificate, LVN or other similar education or certification that demonstrates training in taking vitals, blood pressure, etc. Must have 1-2 year similar experience Must demonstrate customer service skills appropriate to the job Must be comfortable working in a fast paced procedure area Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English BLS certification upon hire Ability to work well in a constantly changing environment Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the Health System Ability to communicate effectively with patients from diverse backgrounds Preferred Qualifications: Procedural experience Previous experience as a Medical Assistant in an ambulatory care setting with procedure environment procedure Phlebotomy License Outpatient experience Knowledge of University and Medical Center organizations, policies, procedures and forms Flexibility to work variable shifts, including occasional weekends or holidays EKG certification or proof of training Bilingual skill in Spanish or Vietnamese or Chinese Conditions of Employment: The University of California, Irvine (UCI) seeks to provide a safe and healthy environment for the entire UCI community.
