We are seeking a seasoned Human Resources Manager to lead HR initiatives and support our unionized workforce.
Position Summary:
The Human Resources Manager will oversee all HR functions including labor relations, benefits administration, and collective bargaining negotiations. This role requires a strategic thinker with hands-on experience in union environments and a strong understanding of employment law and workforce engagement.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead labor relations efforts, including grievance handling, contract interpretation, and union negotiations.
Manage employee benefits programs and ensure compliance with federal and state regulations.
Serve as the primary HR contact for union representatives and port-based employees.
Support collective bargaining processes and maintain productive relationships with labor unions.
Develop and implement HR policies and procedures aligned with company goals and legal requirements.
Partner with operations leadership to address workforce challenges and drive employee engagement.
Maintain accurate HR records and ensure confidentiality of sensitive information.
Provide guidance on disciplinary actions, performance management, and conflict resolution.
Qualifications:
Minimum of 5 years of progressive HR experience, with at least 3 years in a unionized environment.
Proven experience in labor relations, benefits administration, and contract negotiations.
Strong knowledge of employment laws, labor regulations, and HR best practices.
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
Stable work history with demonstrated leadership and integrity.
Experience working with port-based employees or in a transportation/logistics setting is highly preferred.
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field (Master’s or HR certification a plus).
