Inaugural Director/Assistant Professor, Undergraduate Exercise Science Program Mount Saint Mary’s University, Los Angeles, invites applications for a full-time, ten-month, Contractually Limited Term (CLT) Inaugural Director/Assistant Professor, Undergraduate Exercise Science Program. Responsibilities: Initial Responsibilities: Create and develop engaging, comprehensive courses tailored to the needs of our students in both degree tracks. Review and refine existing general studies and foundational science curricula to meet the evolving demands of Exercise Science, particularly focusing on women’s health and fitness. Recruit top-tier faculty who share a passion for empowering women through education and are equipped to teach specialized courses. Organize and oversee the Wellness Pavilion Advanced Training Lab, ensuring that it meets the needs of the program and offers hands-on learning opportunities for students in each of the tracks. Collaborate with undergraduate admissions to attract and recruit students for the program, with a focus on expanding access and diversity. Develop and implement a program handbook that will guide students and faculty in this exciting new program. Ongoing Responsibilities: Provide dedicated academic advising to students, ensuring their academic journeys are supported and they are prepared for careers in the health studies and wellness fields. Supervise and mentor both full-time and part-time faculty, ensuring high teaching standards and student engagement. Work with the university registrar to schedule courses and ensure alignment with program goals. Contribute to program and institutional assessments, ensuring that the Exercise Science program maintains a high standard of excellence. Engage in professional development activities and collaborate with faculty and staff to foster growth and leadership via service initiatives for both the university and the wider community. Lead the faculty and staff in the ongoing evaluation of the curriculum and program outcomes. Represent the program in university meetings and work closely with other departments to ensure collaboration across disciplines. Teach courses within the Exercise Science program. Facilitate professional development opportunities for faculty and staff, enabling them to stay at the forefront of developments in exercise science and women’s health. Manage the program’s budget and resources, ensuring sustainable growth and innovation. Foster opportunities for students to earn professional certifications that enhance their careers in health and wellness. Oversee the accreditation process, ensuring the program meets the rigorous standards for Exercise Science education. Lead by example in fostering a collaborative, inclusive, and empowering environment where women can thrive and excel in their studies. Perform other duties as assigned. Position Annual Hiring Salary Range: $76,000 – $80,000 Hiring salary can be above the posted pay range if candidate’s qualifications are determined to be above the minimum requirements of the position description. Job Requirements: Required Qualifications: Doctoral degree in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, or a related field. Extensive teaching experience in Exercise Science at the undergraduate or graduate level. A strong background in women’s health, exercise science, and wellness across the lifespan. Familiarity with accreditation standards for Exercise Science programs and the ability to apply them. Excellent ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams and engage with students and faculty in a nurturing, inclusive environment. Strong oral and written communication skills, combined with an empathetic and engaging approach to teaching and leadership. Preferred Qualifications: Administrative experience in an academic or fitness setting (e.g., corporate, sports, physical rehabilitation). A demonstrated commitment to working with women from diverse backgrounds and supporting their academic and professional growth.
