Department Summary The UCLA Department of Psychology is an exceptional department known for its excellence in research, teaching, and service. With a distinguished faculty comprising more than 60 ladder rank members, it is one of the nation’s top psychology departments. Its undergraduate program is the largest within the Division of Life Sciences and the UCLA College, with more than 4,700 undergraduate students enrolled across three majors: Psychology, Psychobiology, and Cognitive Science. The department also offers a comprehensive Ph.D. program with eight areas of study to approximately 200 enrolled graduate students. Position Summary Under the general supervision of Dr. Bruce Chorpita in the Child FIRST Lab, the Laboratory Assistant’s responsibilities will involve providing support to a global initiative for the measurement of anxiety and depression in youth, and coordinating with a network of NIMH researchers. This project is an exciting opportunity to connect with a large network of community-focused researchers across the US and around the world. Salary & Compensation *UCLA provides a full pay range. Qualifications At least 1 year of research experience. (Required) Experience with data management and analysis of complex data sets. (Required) Experience with statistical software (i.e. SPSS, etc.). (Required) Experience working in lab research settings. Ability to use standard lab equipment, including telephones, copy machines, and scanners. (Required) Skill in setting priorities that reflect current research needs and demonstrating flexibility in responding to changing needs and resolving issues as they arise. Ability to multitask. (Required) Ability to communicate clearly and effectively both verbally and in writing. (Required) Strong leadership skills. (Required) Advanced computer skills in word processing, email systems, spreadsheets, and databases. Knowledge of PC and Mac computers and applications. (Required) Demonstrated interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with research participants, students, staff, and supervisors from diverse and varying backgrounds. (Required) High level of organization and attention to detail. (Required) Demonstrated ability to handle confidential materials with discretion. (Required) Able to communicate effectively with research participants, of varying ages, and to conduct data collection using clear and standardized procedures. (Required) Knowledge of forms and submission procedures to obtain research approval from the UCLA Institutional Review Board and Office for the Protection of Human Subjects. Experience working with participants. (Preferred) Education, Licenses, Certifications & Personal Affiliations Bachelor’s Degree in clinical psychology or related field, or equivalent combination of experience/training.
