Department Summary Under the UCLA Division of Undergraduate Education and in partnership with UCLA Student Affairs, the UCLA Latinx Success Center, or LSC, will serve as both a central hub for academic resources and an incubator for best practices in Latinx student success.The launch of the LSC is a direct result of a recommendation from the report created by UCLA?s Hispanic-Serving Institution Task Force in 2022. As part of the university?s efforts to become a Hispanic-Serving Institution, or HSI, this new hub on campus is focused on student achievement and excellence.The LSC will strengthen existing programs and initiatives while fostering collaboration to broaden their impact across campus. It will build UCLA?s institutional capacity to:Act as a central hub that connects students to campus wide academic resources and support services, in addition to fostering a sense of belonging among the Latinx campus community.Strengthen career, graduate and professional pathways for Latinx students.Serve as a vehicle to attain and implement future HSI grant-sponsored initiatives to fund innovative academic programs leading to retention and graduation rates and career and graduate pathways.Reach retention and graduation rates of Latinx students in accordance with UC 2030 goals by increasing UCLA?s Latinx freshman four-year graduation rate from 72% to 86% and Latinx transfer two-year graduation rate from 68% to 75%.Feature a digital component of resources, programs, staff and faculty interested in and affiliated with the LSC. Position Summary The Program Coordinator plays a vital role in supporting the Latinx Success Center (LSC) under the direct supervision of the Executive Director. This position is responsible for developing programs that assist Latinx, first-generation, and low-income undergraduate and graduate students. The Program Coordinator will help fulfill the Center’s mission by leading initiatives that align with the LSC’s mission to serve students holistically by coordinating programs, building partnerships, and connecting students to campus-wide resources. This role is central to advancing equity in retention, graduation, and post-graduate success. This includes building and maintaining partnerships with university administrators to enhance student retention efforts, as well as maintaining a database to track and communicate with program participants. Responsibilities also include coordinating logistics for program events, workshops, and meetings, as well as managing administrative tasks such as budgeting, purchasing, processing payments and reimbursements, and monitoring program expenditures through the use of appropriate online systems. The Program Coordinator will provide administrative support to further the Latinx Success Center’s overall mission and contribute to the ongoing development and impact of its programs. Salary & Compensation *UCLA provides a full pay range. Actual salary offers consider factors, including budget, prior experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business considerations. Ability to react sensitively in multicultural environments and to understand the academic and social realities of underrepresented, low income and first generation students. Demonstrated skill and ability in coordinating programs, projects and activities as demonstrated by creating ideas, determining procedures or courses of action, selecting methods and implementation and prioritizing program objectives and tasks. (Required) 3. Skill in speaking with persons of various social, cultural economic and educational backgrounds to explain department policies, procedures, and /or operational and administrative processes using appropriate vocabulary and grammar. Skill in listening perceptively and conveying awareness and understanding. Interpersonal skills sufficient to interact diplomatically with the public in a high volume, continuous public contact setting. (Required) 4. Skill in prioritizing assignments, to complete work in a timely manner when there are changes in workload, changes in assignment, pressure of deadlines, completing requirements and heavy workload. (Required) 5. Ability to answer questions, solve problem and make sound recommendations by gathering data, conducting administrative analyses requiring knowledge of the university?s administrative, organizations, policies, procedures, and practices. (Required) 6. Ability and judgment to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion in the communication and handling of sensitive information with discretion and tact. (Required) 7. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Internet, and Email (Outlook) or other comparable computer software programs. Typing and computer entry skills and proficiency to produce documents. Writing skills to prepare concise, logical and grammatically correct correspondence and documents. (Required) 8. Working knowledge or ability to learn university online systems to transact university business. Working knowledge of University staff hiring policies and procedures and ability to recall and apply major and commonly used provisions and specific rules. (Preferred) 9. Understanding of privacy regulations and practices related to student records. Ability to handle and process confidential student and/or faculty information and files with professionalism and discretion (Required) 10. Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a team to include cooperation, flexibility and respect for ideas and work habits of others (Required) 11.
