Senior Launch Mission Integrator
Location: El Segundo, CA (Hybrid: 4 days onsite / 1 day remote)
Clearance: Active DoD Secret required (TS/SCI eligible)
Compensation: $125,500 – $210,200
Astrion, as a trusted partner to the Department of Defense, we deliver mission-critical capabilities in Cybersecurity, IT, Data Analytics, and Space Operations. Now, we’re looking for a Senior Launch Mission Integrator to help shape the next chapter in National Security Space Launch (NSSL) operations.
In this role, you’ll work side-by-side with U.S. Space Force (USSF) Space Systems Command (SSC) teams on high-visibility launch missions. You’ll be a key player in integrating Space Vehicles (SV) with Launch Vehicles (LV)-ensuring readiness, reliability, and mission success.
What You’ll Do
- Mission Integration – Support the Government Mission Integration Manager (GMIM) in executing NSSL missions. Evaluate payload integration requirements, assess launch service capabilities, and identify risks/issues.
- Requirements & Verification – Manage the development, flow-down, and verification of launch service requirements to ensure LV hardware and services meet mission needs.
- Interface & Operations Support – Oversee launch interface requirement changes, schedules, site operations, and mission assurance processes for readiness reviews.
- Technical Assessments – Provide programmatic and technical evaluations of mission integration activities, launch campaigns, readiness reviews, and working group sessions.
- Launch Campaign Oversight – Track LV processing schedules, monitor launch provider progress, and recommend solutions for technical or schedule issues.
- Rehearsal & DoL Support – Develop and review day-of-launch scripts, timelines, and technical products. Support on-console operations during rehearsals and launch day. Lead/participate in the Rehearsal Anomaly Team (RAT).
- Manifest Coordination – Analyze payload schedules, resolve manifest conflicts, and integrate launch manifest data to support mission matching and execution.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or other STEM discipline
- 8+ years of engineering experience in relevant aerospace/space domains
- 2+ years of launch vehicle or space vehicle integration, launch operations, or range experience
- Ability to travel up to 50%
- Active DoD Secret clearance (must be able to obtain TS/SCI)
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Systems Engineering or related field
- Deep understanding of launch systems, range operations, mission assurance, and safety/environmental factors
- Experience engaging with senior-level Air Force/Space Force leadership in a program office environment
- Familiarity with USSF Space Systems Command (SSC) operations and processes
