Position Summary Under the supervision of the Assistant Director for Leadership & Involvement, the Leadership Development Coordinator will engage with students in order to provide leadership development opportunities and activities throughout the residential communities and the greater UCLA campus. The Leadership Development Coordinator will advise the UCLA chapter of the National Residence Hall Honorary (NRHH), oversee civic engagement, sustainability, advise study proctors and participate in large scale project. Additionally, the Leadership Development Coordinator is responsible for the implementation of a training program for University Apartment Ungraduated residence hall government leaders. Under the direction of the Assistant Director, the Leadership Coordinator will implement large scale programmatic and curricular activities that impact 15,000 on-campus residential students. The Leadership Development Coordinator will act as a program and event advisor for student programmers, support the Assistant Director with cross-campus leadership initiative, including, but limited too TEDxUCLA, UCLA Welcome Week, Move In Assistants, sustainability work and the implementation of the a leadership workshop series, etc. The Leadership Development Coordinator must be able to work independently and with others to manage multiple administrative and University Apartment Undergraduate governmental units with multiple priorities. This requires effective skills in planning, organization, coordination, resource allocation, delegation, and adaptability. The ability to supervise student staff and manage several projects requires the understanding of a dynamic environment and changing organizational context. The incumbent will have developed skills to analyze information, identify alternatives and exercise innovation with ingenuity and resourcefulness in selecting appropriate solutions or directions. Salary & Compensation *UCLA provides a full pay range. Actual salary offers consider factors, including budget, prior experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business considerations. Qualifications Working knowledge of student employee selection and advising staff including coaching, training, delegating, recruiting, discipline, conflict resolution, team- building, interpersonal communication, consensus building , community development, leadership theory (Required) Working knowledge and a theoretical understanding of leadership development, student development and community development. (Required) Working knowledge of University protocols, procedures, and policies regarding programming, event-management, and liability. (Preferred) Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills to facilitate meetings, prepare, and deliver professional presentations; explain complex ideas to diverse audiences, build consensus, and influence decision-making. (Required) Skill in developing curriculum and organizing training modules presented to individuals and groups. (Required) Demonstrated experience with leadership, residential and campus-wide programing. (Preferred) Skill in interacting with individuals from various social, cultural, economic, educational backgrounds, and professional rank in a high-volume, continuous contact setting to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships. (Required) Supervisory skills to effectively manage project and support staff, organize work flow to accomplish established objectives, delegate responsibility and provide training and feedback. (Required) Advanced technical literacy in a Microsoft environment including Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and proficiency using publishing programs. (Required) Skill at using web-based applications and systems to manage information, programs and data tracking. (Preferred) Working knowledge of basic accounting principles and financial record keeping procedures to monitor budgets, authorize expenditures, and recommend budget priorities.
