Description
Infrastructure Services provides flexible, reliable, and secure traditional and cloud infrastructure services (network services, platform services, data center operations, and management, and unified communications) enabling connectivity, productivity, and security for UCLA. Infrastructure Services strives to optimize performance by increasing storage, elevating the network, and reducing downtown. Data Center Services manages data center facilities enabling power delivery to the physical aspects of on-prem data center operations including power, cooling, fire suppression, monitoring of environmental conditions, and physical security of the spaces.
Position Summary
The Manager, Data Center will implement strategy and lead the design, planning, and deployment of scalable and resilient data center infrastructure. The Manager is responsible for the overarching operations, performance management, risk mitigation, and success of the data center. This role will collaborate across IT to ensure strategic alignment and that efficient, reliable, and secure service is delivered to campus customers. This role will maintain oversight of data center team members, resolve escalations, and ensure that all relevant incidents are resolved in a timely and efficient manner.
The Manager, Data Center will lead a strategic program focused on the consolidation and optimization of the compute footprint, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives. This program will enhance operational efficiency, standardize infrastructure across data centers and facilities, improve system performance, reduce costs, and mitigate risks. Through a structured approach, the Manager, Data Center will drive consistency, streamline resources, and implement best practices to support long-term scalability and resilience The Manager, Data Center will positively impact UCLA’s operations and culture by ensuring UCLA’s IT infrastructure is operable, secure, efficient, and effective in service of the university’s academic mission. This team member will advance the University’s mission by delivering exceptional information technology services comprehensively and consistently across faculty, staff, and students. This role will execute UCLA’s vision while modeling UCLA’s culture and values.
Salary & Compensation
*UCLA provides a full pay range. Actual salary offers consider factors, including budget, prior experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business considerations. Special Conditions for Employment
- The anticipated pay range for this position is $130,986 – $149,465, annually; salary is dependent upon the skills and experience of the selected finalist.
