Your Role on the Team Position Summary: The Manager, Perioperative Float Pool is responsible for the operational leadership, administrative oversight, and day-to-day management of all perioperative float pool. The incumbent is accountable for ensuring adequate and competent staffing coverage across all perioperative service areas, ensuring the delivery of safe, high-quality, and efficient perioperative services in alignment with regulatory, accreditation, and organizational standards, including The Joint Commission and applicable state and federal requirements. This role maintains accountability for departmental operational processes, float pool staffing, scheduling, competency management, budgetary performance, and financial accountability across all assigned perioperative float pool functions. The Manager leads the development and implementation of departmental goals, policies, and performance improvement initiatives, and is responsible for the selection, onboarding, multi-specialty competency validation, performance evaluation, and professional development of all assigned perioperative float pool coworkers. This position collaborates with perioperative nursing leadership, surgical services, anesthesia, clinical operations, and administrative leadership to ensure float pool coworkers are deployed effectively to meet patient care needs and maintain operational continuity across all covered perioperative areas. The Manager works under limited oversight and exercises independent judgment in determining departmental goals and measures to achieve operational and clinical objectives within the assigned perioperative float pool program What It Takes to be Successful Required Qualifications: Must possess the skill, knowledge and ability essential to the successful performance of assigned duties Must demonstrate customer service skills appropriate to the job Minimum 2 years leadership experience within Perioperative Services; preferably in a hospital or large, complex healthcare system Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English Current BLS certification Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload Preferred Qualifications: Previous management/supervisory experience Productivity experience Understands workflows in the operating room, preop/post op, Pre Admission testing, and sterile processing Able to navigate competing priorities Licenses and Certifications: Registered Nurse Basic Life Support Education Bachelor of Science, Nursing Total Rewards We offer a wealth of benefits to make working at UCI even more rewarding.
