Position Summary:

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Material Handling Specialist to oversee the efficient movement, storage, and organization of materials and components used in the production of overhead cranes. The Specialist will play a crucial role in maintaining a well-organized and optimized workflow within the material handling department.

Responsibilities:

  • Safely operate forklifts, cranes, hoists, and other material handling equipment to move materials, components, and finished products within the facility.
  • Load and unload materials from trucks, shipping containers, and storage areas.
  • Receive, inspect, and verify incoming materials and components against purchase orders and specifications.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records and conduct regular cycle counts to ensure inventory accuracy.
  • Organize and label materials in designated storage areas for easy retrieval.
  • Arrange and organize materials and components in a way that maximizes space utilization and accessibility.
  • Ensure materials are stored in a manner that prevents damage, deterioration, and contamination.
  • Collaborate with production teams to provide them with the necessary materials and components in a timely manner.
  • Monitor material usage patterns to anticipate production needs and prevent shortages.
  • Inspect materials and components for damage, defects, or discrepancies before they are used in production.
  • Collaborate with the Quality Control team to report and address any issues related to material quality.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines while operating material handling equipment and performing tasks.
  • Report any equipment malfunctions or safety hazards to supervisors immediately.
  • Maintain accurate records of material movements, transactions, and inventory levels.
  • Generate reports on material consumption, stock levels, and other relevant metrics.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline material handling processes and improve overall efficiency.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement process enhancements.

Required Skills/Abilities

  • Proven experience in material handling, logistics, or warehouse operations, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiency in operating forklifts, cranes, hoists, and other material handling equipment.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Familiarity with inventory management software and basic computer skills.
  • Ability to lift heavy materials and work in physically demanding environments.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Understanding of safety protocols and regulations related to material handling.
  • Punctual, reliable, self-starter
  • Be able to pass forklift driver test
  • Valid Drivers license and in good standing

Education/Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent; relevant technical certifications in material handling or logistics are a plus.

Work Environment

  • Ability to work at a desk or stand for prolonged period of time
  • Inside and outside, year-round
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs

This is a permanent, full-time position.
