Materials Manager

Join PPG Aerospace as a Materials Manager. You will be a in a critical leadership role responsible for overseeing the procurement, storage, control, and distribution of materials essential for production operations. You will ensure the availability of materials while minimizing costs and optimizing inventory through management strategies. The Materials Manager leads a team of Buyer/Planners. This is an onsite role based on our Sylmar, CA. facility. You will report to the Supply Chain Manager.
 

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee the entire lifecycle of material management, from procurement to distribution, ensuring that operational needs are met

• Analyze production needs and use budgets to forecast material requirements, adjusting purchase orders as production plans change to maintain inventory levels

• Collaborate with strategic sourcing to identify with suppliers, ensuring the quality and delivery of materials to meet production schedules.

• Manage Buyer/Planners in issuing purchase orders, monitoring order statuses, and resolving procurement issues while ensuring that MRP parameters are accurate and up to date.

• Implement and maintain inventory management systems to track stock levels, conduct cycle counts, and manage annual physical inventory processes to ensure accuracy

• Work closely with quality teams to inspect incoming materials, ensuring they meet established standards and managing returns or rework

• Analyze material costs and identify opportunities for cost savings, implementing strategies to improve spending and improve overall profitability.
   

Qualifications

• US Person

• Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, logistics, or a related field

• 5+ years of experience in materials management or purchasing with 3 years in a leadership role

• Proficiency in ERP systems and inventory management software

• Experience in production planning and warehouse operations

• Salary Range $120,000-$140,000 plus annual bonus
