Your Role on the Team Position Summary: The Principal Credentialing Specialist is responsible for acting as the lead Credentialing Specialist and assists in the development, implementation and monitoring of the credentialing process required by State and Federal laws, hospital accreditation and NCQA standards. Specific duties include, but are not limited to: acting on behalf of the Director in his/her absence, managing the work flow of other Credentialing Specialists, preparing for and follow up on outstanding issue for the Credentialing Committee, reviewing all files for accuracy and completeness, performing credentialing analysis, reviewing physician data management, and preparing policies and procedures to meet licensing standards. Additionally, will act as the delegate for all Managed Care Audits, reviewing files and presenting files during all audits. Prepares a variety of documents using a number of databases, graphics, spreadsheets, and word processing software applications. Provides general office support services (e.g. filing, telephones, word processing, etc.) as required or directed. Required Qualifications: Strong analytical and problem solving skills and the ability to plan strategically Strong Knowledge of Joint Commission JCAHO, NCQA, and Title 22 regulations Required to be the subject matter expert in the job function Must possess the skill, knowledge, and ability essential to the successful performance of assigned duties Must possess the skill, knowledge and ability essential to the successful performance of assigned duties Must demonstrate customer service skills appropriate to the job Must be able to exercise considerable latitude in determining objectives and approach to work Must be able to exercise considerable independence in developing problem-solving methodologies Must be able to consult with all levels of management Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English Excellent working knowledge of MS Office products Demonstrated understanding of medical terminology CPCS and/or CPMSM Certified Bachelor Degree in related field or equivalent education and experience Ability to persuade or influence people to take appropriate action Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the Health System Ability to coordinate and resolve issues in a timely manner Ability to apply sound judgment in ambiguous situations and effectively manage change 5-8 years’ experience in credentialing medical staff Preferred Qualifications: Knowledge of University and medical center organizational structure, policies, procedures, and forms Dual Certification in any of the following areas: CPMSM, CPCS, CPHQ Conditions of Employment: The University of California, Irvine (UCI) seeks to provide a safe and healthy environment for the entire UCI community.
