JOB SUMMARY
Under the direction of the Vice President of Merchandising, this position will be responsible for the execution of purchasing duties and maintaining high service levels to customers. Personally, managing and making purchasing decisions regarding all lines of business, working with buyers, finance, and operations in the coordination of all inbound orders.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide technical, customer relations, and personnel management for major programs and projects

  • Assist with all types of purchasing orders including but not limited to, special and standing orders

  • Coordinate all inbound appointments for receiving purposes

  • Assist sales force with questions pertaining to produce and non-produce items

  • Complete all the tasks as assigned by VP of Merchandising per the deadlines

  • Handle all credits and returns promptly to minimize shrink

  • Work with pricing department, vendors and corporate to ensure all PO’s (purchase order) priced correctly

  • Participate in inventory activities including cycle counts

  • Cover buyers as needed

QUALIFICATIONS
Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

Experience

  • 1 year purchasing, sales, marketing, customer service or any other related field of study are preferred

Skills

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to handle crisis situations effectively

  • Proven ability to communicate effectively over the phone, good negotiating and interpersonal skills and ability to handle stress effectively

  • Good math skills

  • Must have good written and verbal communication skills and be able to effectively communicate with others.

  • Strong ability with Excel and Word

Decision Making Authority

  • Communication of short or subbed items for customers

  • Inform vendors of quality issues and discrepancies

  • Approving invoices to be paid
