Boeing Research & Technology (BR&T) is currently seeking a Microelectronics Lab Technician (Associate or Mid-Level) to assist lab administrators and engineering test leads in multiple labs operated by BR&T’s Mission System Technologies’ Solid State Electronics Development (SSED) organization in Huntington Beach, CA.

SSED performs microelectronics technology development for aerospace systems, including digital, analog, & RF integrated circuits and Systems on Chip (SoCs) for radar, navigation, electronic warfare, communications, edge processing, and other electronic systems. These systems are used on Boeing airborne, terrestrial, and satellite platforms. Designs are implemented with state of the art semiconductor process technologies including CMOS, GaAs, GaN, and SiGe. SSED uses external wafer fabrication but performs design (architecture, RTL, synthesis, circuits, physical design, and verification), packaging and test in house. SSED has multiple laboratories in the Seattle, WA area to support electrical and environmental testing, characterization, and evaluation of prototype state-of-the-art microelectronics.

The Microelectronics Lab Technician will perform the following tasks, in collaboration with lab administrators, engineering test leads, and in accordance with enterprise and BR&T processes and procedures:

  • Lab equipment management including inventory, calibration scheduling, and disposition
  • Manage lab 5S process
  • Auditing for quality and safety compliance
  • Implementing prevention measures for static electricity (ESD)
  • Assembling and installing equipment
  • Microelectronics board assembly (including soldering)
  • Creating cable assemblies
  • Facility maintenance support
  • Supply management and support
  • Shipping/Receiving

Position Responsibilities:

  • Supports activities to plan, conduct and document tests on products, systems, components, materials, and manufacturing processes and technologies.
  • Designs systems, materials, components, software and methodologies to meet customer requirements.
  • Participates in test design and performs routine procurement, fabrication and assembly of components, test fixtures and test systems.
  • Supports the coordination of test requirements and assists in reviewing test methods and capabilities.
  • Facilitates systems integration, fabrication and modification; supports system pre-test setup, integration, checkout, and posttest tear-down.
  • Conducts routine tests, analyzes data and documents results.
  • Troubleshoots and recommends resolution of basic laboratory and test-related problems.
  • Works under general supervision.

This position is expected to be 100% onsite.  The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Secret clearance Post-Start is required.

 

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Associate’s level degree in a relevant technical field, including Systems, Electrical/Electronic and Computer technologies
  • 1+ years of experience working in laboratories focused on development of electronic components and systems

 

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • 3+ years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Active security clearance
  • More than the minimum experience working in microelectronics development laboratories
  • Experience with microelectronic board assembly
  • Experience with laboratory testing of state-of-the-art digital, analog/mixed-signal, and/or RF integrated circuits

 

Typical Education/Experience: 

Associate  (Level 2)

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced education (e.g. Associate) and typically 1 or more years’ related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience (e.g. Bachelor, 3 years’ related work experience, etc.).

Mid-Level (Level 3)

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced education (e.g. Associate) and typically 3 or more years’ related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience (e.g. Bachelor+1 years’ related work experience, 5 years’ related work experience, etc.).

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.

Summary pay range for Associate Level: $51,000 – $69,000

Summary pay range for Mid-Level:  $59,500 – $80,500
