Position description : Teach in – and help lead – the Music Industry program in the Music Department at Cal Poly Pomona. Founded nearly 30 years ago, it is one of the older such undergraduate programs in the country, currently numbering nearly 150 undergraduates. The program prepares musicians for a wide variety of careers in the music and entertainment fields as well as for teaching opportunities and/or further graduate study. The successful candidate would teach music industry coursework that could include: Careers in Music; Music Industry Seminar; Artist Representation and Promotion; Music for Media, Non-profit Music; Music Publishing, Copyright, and Licensing; Beatlemania, Life and Death in the Arts, Senior Projects, and guide internships. The candidate would also develop new coursework and/or teach other classes appropriate to the candidate’s specialties. Furthermore, the candidate would conduct research, creative, and scholarly activities in areas appropriate to the candidate’s specialties. Minimum requirements include : Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent. Degrees must be conferred by the start date of the position. Demonstrated commitment to inclusivity and equity. At least two years teaching experience.
