Your Role on the Team Position Summary: Under the direction of the Nurse Manager, the Assistant Nurse Manager is responsible for management functions related to the delivery of patient care, as well as the quality of nursing practice and the standards of care. Supervises and directs staff and functions in the unit while maintaining clinical nursing practice skills and unit specific expertise. Specific duties include managing Human Resources, staffing and scheduling, directing patient care activities, monitoring bed placement and intake processes, participating on departmental and medical center wide performance improvement projects. Will also function as a liaison for evaluations and counsel pertaining to psychiatric patient needs. Serves as a role model and clinical resource to colleagues, staff, patients and others. Required Qualifications: Must demonstrate customer service skills appropriate to the job Knowledge of Title 22 and Joint Commission Requirements Demonstrated experience in a leadership role Demonstrated experience in a leadership role which may include leading a project, shared governance chair, charge nurse, etc. Complete understanding of patient classification system & staffing requirements for the patient population Ability to work variable shifts including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays Ability to read, write and communicate effectively in English Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects and maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload Ability to maintain flexibility and work well in a fast paced, constantly changing environment Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the Health System Preferred Qualifications: Unit specific nursing certification Previous psychiatric leadership/supervisory experience: including but not limited to; psychiatric intake assessment and review, API staffing, legal documentation and requirements, detail oriented, proven record of success Licenses and Certifications: RN CPINVCI BLS Conditions of Employment: The University of California, Irvine (UCI) seeks to provide a safe and healthy environment for the entire UCI community.
